Hi
Travelling with work companions we might be getting to HKG four hours early (they are on earlier flight) - will I be able to check in for QF128 back to Oz?
I cant really do ITCI as we are in Quarry Bay so a long way from Central.

As an aside - any idea on how I will fare getting two guests into the F lounge - one of whom is flying on CX?

My experience is that checkin only opens 3 hours prior so you won't have any luck at the airport.
Only sure option is ITCI and take the Airport Express train.
I've always found Lounges in HK strictly enforce the rules on guests.

As with anything it is a case of YMMV. Got into BKK 5 hours early last Sunday and was resigned to the fact that I would have to wait until the T-3 hour mark for check-in when lo and behold check-in counters were open at ~T-4 hour mark.

The Qantas F Lounge? Or do you plan on heading on down to the Pier as the Wing F lounge is closed and the temporary F is a joke for anyone wanting to use it.

If you are going to the Qantas F Lounge I think you would have a good chance of 2 guests if the lounge is not overly crowded.

last time i was there, i had to take airport express back to kowloon to check in there.

check in counters at the airport only open 3 hours prior to your flight.

You can use ITCI the day before if that may work better.

You don't actually have to take the train having done so.

Thank thud - I wondered if there was an earlier flight we could piggy back off...

Qantas check-in counters at HKIA should open at around 16:00. But if you're in Quarry Bay, why not stop by at the Central or Kowloon check-in on the way to the airport? The Qantas F lounge is quite good and opens at 16:00 also. The J lounge downstairs is open longer.

I checked in at HKIA (but for a CX flight) 4 hours early and it was no problem at all.

Do you still have to swipe your ticket to get access though?
Yes you do need to validate the ticket to get access to the ITCI counters.

After checking in at Central you need to exit the check-in area in any case.

You still need to revalidate you ticket before catching a train, whether that's straight away, later in the day or the next day.

I'm sure I did it once without having to validate. But I had to ask the attendant to open the barrier. I forget the reason - but he let me in. I did take the train the next day...

I checked in online for QF30 last week and spect a leisurely 4.5 hours "researching" the OW FLounges at HKG.

Carry on only, but.

I sort of like the pod style seating in the temporary CX F Lounge. I also liked the spaciousness and relative emptiness of the QF FLounge.

That would be the exception that proves the rules.

In an case, this option would cost up to HKD100 for single one-way if not planning on using the train.

Note that a three PAX one-way fare costs HKD210 one way ...
