Qantas changing prices while online booking

I have booked flights Syd to Vancouver 2 x business class 13th Aug return 14thSep. $6300pp. took 45 minutes to book as web page kept freezing & cutting out.
My friends were online booking at the same time with the same problems. They kept getting shut out of the web page & trying again they finally got to the payment page & it cut out again. 30 minutes to get back on & the price had increased to $9000 pp. What a rip off they have tried the call centre & email etc with no reply's & on the phone for hrs++! As this is another obvious Qantas web fault does anyone please have any ideas of getting the original price or partial refund from the $9000pp
they got charged 30 minutes later, or flight credit? there are still seats available on the flights now $12,000pp!!! I would appreciate your views!
 
It may be because the Business Sale fare bucket has been exhausted and only Business Saver and Business Flex are available now?

If they return via LAX instead of SFO or DFW they might save a few $$, note Prem Economy only on the YVR-LAX flight.

Cheapest option with decent timings.

And very likely if you tried to book at the "same" time, whoever was really "first" would've got the seats and the "loser" an error/notification of price increase.
 
Thanks for the info, yes they are both return flights direct, they had everything booked same price as me pressed the payment button & it just went blank!! Very frustrating!

I had a similar experience years ago when I tried to book flights on Delta website. The website kept cutting out and when it finally proceeded to payment page, the price jumped up by nearly 100%. Lucky I hadn't submitted my credit card details for payment. But I agree with what Guvner said, the seats from that fare bucket must have been sold out. Hopefully your friend's tickets were refundable.

The treat was flying business class, but now they have also been charged twice for the same flight. $18000 it has become a total shambles with another 5hrs on the phone getting cut of because they cant help!! ring again to get the same answer 2 hrs later. finally got a supervisor who had a look at it and told them they would get a refund in 10-12 days & hung up on them!! Just not good enough Qantas, are you going to pay there interest on their card??? Of course not!! Qantas management you should be bloody well ashamed of yourselves!! The least you could do is train your call staff, or better still bring it back to Australia!!
 
I'm still confused why Qantas owes them anything above the T&C's of the ticket they purchased unless the website indicated they would be charged a lower amount instead of a higher one..?
