Qantas changes AA earn to include O and Q

From the latest statement:


Increased earn on American Airlines
Effective for travel from 1 Aug 2013, Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn when travelling in O and Q classes in Economy when flying on American Airlines. Members will earn 25% on the miles flown, giving you even more reason to fly to American Airlines' 250 destinations in almost 40 countries.

About time! I took a PER-TYO-LAX trip to the States and my travel agent did not tell me that O class earned no points for the TYO-LAX-TYO sectors! Went that way looking at AA being One World partner.Was extremely upset, especially as no free drinks in Y on AA as well! Along with rude FA who wouldn't take Aus$..made the trip very uncomfortable. Never flown AA since.

I have to say that I've never heard of $AU being accepted on AA flights, or free booze for Y pax for that matter.

The 500 point minimum also appears to apply, making the 0.25 FFP/mile a bit irrelevant on short domestic AA flights (LAX-LAS for example).

With similar changes being made with AAdvantage earn on QF flights (N and Q will now earn), it would be nice if QF class E was also included for AAdvantage earn.

E is only used for domestic sales (read: limited duration sales) so it's not a huge loss unless you're always booking Y seats during these sales.

Yay! I never had an issue with AA, like them a lot in fact. Not sure if this will effect me since I've long since stopped flying with them down the back of the plane as well ;-)

Why on earth would you expect an AA flight between Japan and the US to accept AUD? Had you run out of Israeli shekels ??

Small point but TYO should actually read NRT...

As for the point earning fare buckets, that information is available on the QF website

TYO is still valid - it is the city code for Tokyo and encompasses all Tokyo airports, eg. NRT, HND...

Just like using LON - it doesn't sit right with me considering the actual airport was NRT

AA indeed fly to and from HND (as well as as NRT)

FWIW::

As of Feb 1, 2012, beer and wine is has been complimentary in Coach on longhaul international flights (to/from Asia, Europe, South America).

As of June 1, 2009, AA have accepted payment by credit card only on mainline flights and by cash only on American Eagle and American Connection flights.
