Yes SA is very backward in this regard.

OT, but talking about drivers licences, here in SA you can change your address online, but you actually have to go into a Services SA office and wait around for ages to show ID and be given the little sticker with your new address. Crazy inefficient place.

I'm curious about all this talk if drivers' licences and stuff. I didn't need to provide any ID to activate my QC card. I wonder why I'm special?

They use a service to verify you - if everything matches up it is just activated.
I recall it's greenID
If you are on the Electoral Roll, have other credit cards and a home phone number it seems to go through pretty easily.

Back on topic and i had no probs with using my SA Drivers license to verify my identity with QC online!
