I just booked a classic business reward flight to NZ which ended up being a few hundred in taxes and carrier fees.

However, I realised I have a spare $450 travel credit from an AMEX deal so I'm considering cancelling my original flight and using the travel credit on a economy flight instead.

Is it currently free to cancel my classic reward flight and get refunded both the points and taxes+fees?

Is a Qantas business award flight worthwhile at the moment or am I better off cancelling and using up my AMEX travel credit for economy? I'm not sure when I'll travel again this year given NZ looks to be the only available destination and my AMEX travel credit expires early next year.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You should be able to cancel your Classic award for free ( https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel...irus/fly-flexible.html#classic-flight-rewards ). Might take a couple of weeks for points to refund, and a few more for the cash components, your mileage may vary.

As for your choice of using your 450 credit on an eco, or keep your award business, things to consider:
- Do you fly on the A330? The business class experience is great, with lie flat bed, on this plan. Otherwise, the B737 is just normal domestic business seats.
- Do you need flexibility? Your reward booking provides you max flexibility. Your Amex booking might incur change / cancellation fee, and you will have to deal with Amex for that.
- Do you see other opportunities to use your 450 credit even on domestic? I personally try to get rid of this credit asap. The credit doesn't roll over.
