Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Did a return flight to Perth over Christmas

The soup was ok as a small plate not sure who would have it as a main plate

New A330 is good

Chicken was ok but too many grapes for my liking

Dessert was good

Did I already say the new A330 is excellent

On the way back different menu and plane configuration.

I had the salmon and the lamb both good.

The pineapple meringue was a let down, Maggie Beer ice cream was good had it both times as an extra dessert.

The Shaw and Smith Sav blanc has gone been replaced by a Chardonnay(didn't like) or a Riesling, not too bad.

Had a good chat to the CSM who was on both flights, 2 Perth based crew and 2 Brisbane based crew.

Also nice to be met by another AFF member who gave me a lift home, they know who they are and thanks for that.

I have never experienced this previously, but have QF cut back on the quantity of each meal they carry on board.

This week flew Queenstown - Sydney - Perth, on both flights they ran out of the only meal option that I would eat.

So I never eat on the Q-S flight and when the dinner service came around on the S-P flight I was told that they had missed of my gluten free meal.

I had a chuckle and said I hadn't ordered a gluten free meal and I would have the chicken, which i was told there was none left.

When i explained there was nothing else that i would eat on the menu, the attendant said leave it with me.

Surprisingly he came back with a steak meal that wasn't on the menu but had been ear marked for the captain.

Thanks to the captain was sacrificing his meal, i really enjoyed it :-0

Beef stew (I'm sure it was called something different), broccoli & mash potato and lemon curd tart.

Thanks for posting all these Flying Fox. I had that beef stew with broccoli and polenta on a BNE-CBR QFLink dinner flight a couple of weeks ago. Looked ordinary but was pretty tasty.

My pleasure.

I agree that the beef stew tasted much better than it looked. Mash potato was good and the broccoli still had some crunch to it.

QF490 MEL-SYD
Dinner: Steamed fish with green chilli and chinese brocolli. This one's a winner in my book. If I want to be picky I'll say the rice was a bit dry but still managed to finish the whole thing.
Alternative: Lamb greek salad

Flew on SYD-MEL on 01/01 and ADL-MEL on 10/1 and noted both flights had Rieseling boarded as a white wine - this is very unusual(for me anyway) on domestic flights. I noted it to the CSM on the ADL-MEL sector and he commented it seems to be coming back into fashion. The one they served(forget the label) was more of a dry than sweet Rieseling, and quite acceptable. It was Chardy on MEL-ADL.

Makes a change from the usual Sauv Blanc which I must admit am getting a bit tired of.

I did ADL-MEL on Sunday (10/1) in the evening. The lamb shank was quite tender but almost tasteless. Mind you I have had a bit a cold so I expect its more me than the meal. The green beans however were pretty damn good. I gotta admit that meal is a bit a bean overload though.

Agree with this, the Shaw & Smith sav blanc was getting very boring. It's not even a particularly good sav blanc (unlike their pinot noir, which is great.)

The M3 Chardonnay is my favourite of theirs. I'd love to see that onboard but it's probably above the price point they want to spend :)

It was one of the 2 whites in business Dubai to briz on Sunday. Agree it's delightful

Pretty disappointed with several business class meals over the past week. One 9am (refreshment) flight the options were a toasted sandwich and a small egg salad. I had the latter, was tasty but clearly refreshment size. For a 1.5 hour lunch flight the options were again a toasted sandwich, soup and a tiny prawn salad. Not great for lunch, in summer, in my opinion.

But worst of all a dinner flight Melbourne to Canberra, dinner consisted of 3 pieces of cold baked small potatoes with 3 pieces of rock-hard broccoli. I wouldn't call this a side-dish / small plate, let-alone a dinner. Yes it's a short flight but I thought it was very disappointing.

Fortunately I've found the food options in the J lounges good of late but there isn't always time.

On the upside, though not domestic of course, the dinner SYD-CHC the other night was excellent (I had red duck curry) and breakfast on the return was very generous (particularly when accompanied by a Bloody Mary).

I had the toasted sandwich on a 9.30 SYD-MEL the other day and found it tasty and substantial.
Actually gave a '10' rating in feedback for the trip.

OOL-MEL lunch flight: Tamarind Chicken stir fry with Hokkien noodles. Chicken was tender and tasty and the noodles were not soggy at all

delicious! (other option was lamb shanks which looked good too).

Dessert a beautiful chocolate/vanilla thing. I don't quite know how to describe it except... beautiful :)

wine served was a Pino Griggio (yet another variety not often seen on QF dom J)

Yes - I'd happily call this lunch or dinner. Certainly not my recent experiences.

Aussie Day was in full swing today with lamb shanks followed by lamingtons on QF1012 from HBA-MEL.

Actually the lamb was very nice - juicy and tasty. Almost made up for being denied entry to the HBA QP because it was full!
