Qantas BNE-LAX direct flights have disappeared in July ??

Feels like we’re back to the glory days with several Qantas flights a day to multiple European destinations. My understanding is that Qantas doesn’t have the rights for daily flights into France, which is probably why Rome gets the nod instead.

They have the rights for 6x weekly into France on a 787-9 (it's based on number of seats - they could only do 3x weekly A380s).

They also have the rights for 25x weekly into Germany, daily into MAD/BCN , daily into ATH, daily into DUB, and more than daily on a 787 (2800 seats weekly) into all of the Nordic countries + AMS (except Iceland, no rights apparently).

Not an exhaustive list but rights into Europe isn't the problem - it's airport slots (and aircraft obviously).

They could probably lease some of the slots that EK and QR aren't using at the moment, and maybe even some of their aircraft and crew.

I would imagine some finance people are doing the numbers to see what's profitable in different scenarios. But hard to plan when no one really knows when this current war will end.

Looks like the new Sydney to Paris via Singapore is not bookable as a Sydney to Singapore only (or at least not in late April into May when I looked.
I was hoping to book just the CDG-SIN but it doesn’t seem to be offered as separate flights.

I would have hoped Qantas to push some London travellers onto QF233 and free up some seats on QF1...

I doubt they’ll be letting anyone on until pax have been rebooked to CDG. It’s not a priority for them at the moment.

My understanding is flights going west will be via SIN except for FCO - because of the extra distance imposed by the ME situation.
Flights heading east generally have prevailing winds to help it along

No, CDG is via SIN in both directions.

I'm sure they eventually will given some pax originally booked PER-CDG will join in SIN.. but agree get the already booked pax transferred first.

The other thing is that AF may be asking for more seats on SIN-SYD for its codeshare. That goes for all the Euro carriers really.

I don't think pax O/D'ing in SIN are a priority.

If SYD-CDG starts to go via SIN instead of PER, does this also mean Qantas can use a cheaper Singapore-based crew for this route (once that base opens)?

Why, if already booked on QF1 they want to go to LHR not CDG.
I meant that passengers bound for LHR can fill in QF233 for SYD-SIN leg and change for QF1 to LHR, which will free up seats for SIngaporeans, Malaysians and Indonesians needing to go home to Asia.

That makes absolutely no sense. They're both going to Singapore.

If there's capacity to carry pax to Asia - just get on QF233. But the priority for both flights will be those going to Europe.
