Travelling BNE-AKL next week and surprised to see the an aircraft change on the daily QF119 service from the usual A330-200 to a B787-9. Qantas had previously announced the upgrade of this service from the A330-200 to B787-9 on 3 days from August 2025. The 787 appears to be operating on certain days BNE-AKL (QF119 & QF126) and LAX (QF15 &16) flights from February 4 for at least a week or so.

Looks like it's operating QF15/16 on February 2?

Right now Qantas is flying a B787-9 Dreamliner from LAX to BNE QFA16 - rego VH-ZNJ. Also, recently, it flew a B787-9 from BNE to LAX QFA15 - rego VH-ZNK. Both aircraft are about 6 years old.
Also, Qantas is currently flying an A380 from LAX to MEL QFA94 - rego VH-OQA (Nancy-Bird Walton).

The 789 operated every Mon and Wed until end of March.

There are some temporary reductions (service cancellations) for QF15/16 BNE-LAX for this month (April) before the 789 resumes Mon and Wed services at the end of April through to early June 2025.

Booked AKL- BNE during DSC early this year for flight in September wanting to try the Dreamliner.
Noticed a few weeks ago, 787 has been subbed back to 330 🙄

I would not worry too much - Between the 330's and 789, Business is pretty much of a muchness and economy seats are wider.

Of course if a737 we're subbed, that's a compelling different story.

Thanks flying J, am used to the A330 but was keen to try 789, as you say, at least not subbed for 737 @serfty ....yet!
