With the disruptions and ever changing world situation having to cancel trip to Portugal, England and Scotland planned for June & July 2020 I have to say hats off to Qantas.
They have been terrific re airfares and the hotels booked thru Qantas Hotels. Have used email service and 'live chat'.

As we wish to do this trip we have put off for 12 months (roughly same time).
We thus were happy to just delay.

No issues at all and received our full value credit voucher for the airfares.
Qantas hotels, even though the hotels had said no cancellation, went to work for us.
Achieved full refund for Crowne Plaza in UK.
Portuguese hotel no refund but happy to either change dates now or full value credit voucher.

Maybe naive but as we are going to do this trip we haven't lost anything yet - just got credits and refunds from across the globe - all done thru the Qantas system with no issues - smooth and easy - and appreciated.

I think you might want to take some advice on whether a full $$ refund on your airfare would be a better option. I take it Qantas has cancelled your flights?

I'm not entirely sure but it looks like vouchers being issued now will still come with change fees when it comes time to redeem them.

A full $$ refund is always going to be better, unless they come out with a guaranteed fare lock (that is, a like for like redemption of your voucher for the same class of travel when you end up flying). The other time a voucher might be better is if you booked under a double status promotion.

As we got voucher in our account at start of April change fees waived. Plus because we got voucher for hotels got 1000 FF points as well as full amount.

Adding to the OP's comments, I have some rare praise for the Qantas call centre.

I had a booking ex SIN which has now been cancelled. I had to wait 90 minutes (was promised a call back in 40 minutes, but I'll let that slide...). Once I got through, the "Qantas Premium" person in Hobart was able to cancel the booking for a refund in under a minute. It wasn't a problem at all. Now I just have to wait "8-10 weeks" for the refund...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Have a look at this thread.

Very happy with Qantas as after requesting cancelled flights they refunded full $2022 within 3 weeks. I have taken credits for other flights too.

Must say of all the refunds I requested I got including waiver on the upgrade cancellation fee !
