Qantas Awards on Hawaiian Airlines

That's not good, perhaps the tech hasn't caught up with the new booking/coding requirements
What’s the problem? It’s been mentioned earlier that all HA rewards flights will book with AS codes.

See post #12. I think they're trying to book and it's coming up with an error code despite the AS code. That's what I read, maybe have it wrong, been out and about today.

Yes, been following and just quizzed why you thought it was a problem having an AS code?

I just went through with a dummy booking LAS-HNL and it went through to PAX details without error. Didn’t want to go past that point.

Misunderstanding, I was thinking they couldn't book even though it had the right coding. Good it booked for you and glad to know it works - I'm a bit cynical when it comes to qantas having had some past unnecessary complications.

It’s the next screen after the PAX details is when the error occurs, I have now tried a whole heap of Hawaiian Airlines flights with AS flight numbers from different locations and they all do the same error.
Has to been some type of glitch in there system or something.

Unfortunately that first agent you spoke to was a classic HUACA situation - which is obviously a PITA if you were on hold for so long. But you’ll probably need to call again with the specific flight details you’re after, quoting the AS flight number. If they can’t see it, then it’s possibly “phantom” availability and the source of the error?

Oh, HA don't fly there anymore? Ok, I've been living under a rock. I flew HA to MKK some years ago.

HA is dropping its seasonal AKL flight citing soft demand and high fuel costs

Disappointing, but not surprising, sadly.

AUD/USD has strengthened in the last year but is still relatively weak, Hawaii is already very expensive and cost pressures are rising, international travel to Hawaii is down across the board, and general economic factors are causing many to rethink their plans.

Still, quite the drop in service across ANZ with just HA + QF to SYD and NZ to HNL left, with BNE and MEL both losing their nonstop connections and now AKL losing HA... sign of the times.

I forgot JQ to SYD going away, too. Safe to say a 50%+ drop in nonstop seats to Hawaii from ANZ from the peak.

QF operated were also down gauged from B787 to 3x Class A333 - which was chockers a few weeks ago returning from HNL.

Would we call it a ‘downgauge’ if the A333 has more seats than the B789? The Finn Air A333 has 279 seats v B789 with 237…. Admittedly the B789 is premium heavy, but in terms of a discussion about available seats….
