Qantas Assure

I'm using iPhone 6 and it is working but hasn't updated today's activity. I just went to look following your post. Restarting the phone hasn't done it. It can be slow sometimes but the test is to go to the Health App and see if that is collecting data. (It is). So give it time to update. I will watch it closely though...

Mine wasn't updating today's steps so I logged out and now can't get back in. It just has the spinning wheel saying "Cleaning up, this will only take a minute"...an hour later......

I read the news today and two of the private health fund mutuals, HCF and HBF are going to merge.
This will likely mean that the top four private health funds will control 66 per cent of assets.
Qantas Assure is part of NIB which has 9% of members in private health insurance.
I just wonder how Qantas Assure can continue to offer good rates when they are becoming part of a minnow in the business.
I understand they got a lot of members with their QFF points joining bonus last year.
They may even need to offer Qantas point bonuses for renewals this year if the big four trim their costs and Qantas Assure / NIB are unable to .

Has anybody noticed that Q Assure are now trickling breadcrumbs into their QFF Account. I had the 28 day trial but forgot about it and didn't really take advantage of it as at the time had no Smart Watch to track steps. However, now it's expired you still earn points but at a reduced rate (I think 10%) or so.

For some reason had it set at max value of 20000 steps per day to earn 2.2 points and 120000 steps per week to earn 11 points and on a few occasions I hit the 20000 mark (I do a fair bit of running which bumps up the tally). I've adjusted it to be 8000 per day (will achieve almost every day) to earn 1.5 points and 56000 weekly steps for 7.5 points. Not much but effectively gives 1000 points per year. Of course if you take out one of the Q Assure products you would earn significantly more (20000 at the maximum values above I calculate)

I note you have the option to earn points from cycling and swimming (which I also do both regularly) but you can only have one of the 3 options - if you can have all 3, then that would be great - perhaps you do if you have one of the Q Assure products.

Previously at the end of the trial you’d be able to use the app, but earn nil points. Whilst the earn isn’t great outside of the trials they offer randomly, it’s easy points

I now notice the app (Now renamed) Qantas Wellness is offering further breadcrumbs for sleeping without touching your phone between certain times. Some easier breadcrumbs to earn. It is a must for anybody which may have accounts that remain dormant.

Yes I saw that too. Good call on the value. I love the app and in the last year my wife and I have accumulated about 25,000 points between us. Doesn't sound like much but it's easy pickings. If only I could get some friends to join!

The only problem with the sleep option is that 9/10 I wake up and look at the time. Does that blow the benefit? I couldn't quite tell.

I only got the update today so have to see how it works, but it looks like you can set your bedtime and waketime (I set for 10 in bed and 4.55am wake up) to score the points). That is easlily doable, but I'm thinking you could put it to any time.

To answer your question PaulyB, I'm guessing if you turned the phone on to look at the time you'd be stuffed, so I suggest a smart watch or a clock radio (yeah '80's/90/s), although some phones have time displayed all the time so that could be an option.

I'm very 80's/90's :) . Smart thinking....

I think there's some amount of tolerance built in. I set mine to 12.45am to 6.45am, which allows me to update the steps at the end of the day without blowing the "don't touch your phone" timer. I made it 12.45 because it says you can't use it 30 mins beforehand so that is 12.15am. My alarm goes off at 6 every morning and it still doesn't seem to break the streak, but I have been careful not to turn on my phone until 7am so far. The things we do for 5 free points....

For everyone having issues with the most recent update syncing your activity from your Apple Watch etc, uninstal and re-install the app, then log in. You’ll be fine. It will even update the previous load of tracking that it missed, and yes you’ll get your points.

Working fine for me, but perhaps because I just installed it fresh on a new phone last week.

Pity you can't lower the sleep below 6 hours. Though I guess that's the point. It tracked successfully for me last night despite my phone being moved (but not opened) on the bed at least twice in the night.

Anyone noticed that the sleep app offer (5 points a night) is only a short period? Just noticed it in the last newsletter..

Yes, but the T and C's state that after that date you still get full points if you hod a policy and if not you get a reduced rate - presumably 10% or 0.5 points.

Ahh - thanks. I hadn't noticed that.

Anyone picked up the 1000 points from the following offer?
https://insurance.qantas.com/health-insurance/switch

I answered the questions on the site a week ago and no phone call so just tried again.
No intention of taking out a policy / switching and seems and easy way to get 1000 points.
While personally I wouldn't value my details or time wasted on a call at a mere 1k points -- thanks for letting folks know of the offer -- and the fact it doesn't seem to be working.

Good pickup. 6 family accounts all waiting for the phone call.
