Will the refurbished (2 business loos) be able to make India from the East Coast? I would like to see some kind of footprint on the subcontinent along with Seoul and Mel-BKK flights.

Second MEL-BKK (the Sydney service is rammed!)

Yeah the 4 (original) international -200’s were brought to run services to Mumbai so the -200’s have the range. Of course they won’t be using those 4, as two are gone and two will become domestic when refitted but no issues using any of the others that will be allocated primarily to international.

As for the configuration my understanding is when they get the extra loo they also get the crew rest so no issue there.

Given a large Korean community (and ever growing as more move down from Sydney to Melbourne) in Melbourne its surprising that KE, QF or OZ can't support even a 3 weekly service to Seoul. OZ and QF codeshare to Sydney, so assume they could do so down to Melbourne if they wanted.

If QF want to make a serious go into ASIA they should consider turning DRW into a hub !

Jetstar sort of tried this before, but claimed that one reason it pulled out was that DRW airport charges were too high.

There may also have been passenger resistance. In theory it was a good idea.

A few years ago, I was traveling CBR-xSYD-NRT when weather in SYD was causing delays to the point I would miss the connection to QF21. Upon pointing this issue out to the QF lounge staff, they tried to offer a reroute. QF CBR-MEL, then JQ MEL-DRW-MNL-NRT.

My instant reaction was "o_O No" and they sent me via MEL and HKG on CX. :D

In theory, yes, but not for QF (assuming their current mindset of overnight flights only to Australia). Most people, particularly those paying the bigger bucks up the front, do not want to fly for 4-5 hrs, change planes at 1 or 2 am and fly for another 4 hrs. Much better to fly on a 6-9 hr flight non stop.

QF should start CNS-HKG, MEL-BKK and BNE-ICN (or perhaps even BNE-TPE-ICN!)
