Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Happy to report I could use my $50 voucher! QF sale between SYD and MEL, $119 each way, less $50 for a total of $178. Same price as Rex but with a free panini and bottle of wine!
Let's just hope that's on an A330 and you upgraded to J using points!

Surprisingly easy. Had to call up once to chase it up, but just got this email.

They did say on the phone that they'd take away the DBL passes and give me the points, but it seems they didn't end up taking away the DBL passes 😝
Called up yesterday to ask about the same and today received a near identical email and the 30,000 points. They did stress not to use the DBL passes and that it may take some time ("probably October") for them to be removed from my account.

Received my J Lounge passes as a SG.
They are called "DBL", but no idea what it stands for, there's no Legend below for this type of lounge pass.

The simple things are just so hard for QF to get right.
Does anyone now know what DBL means ?

One presumes you could use a DBL pass for a QC, but seems a bit of a waste. Like using a P1 pass is good for anything (bar CL of course) but gee it would be better to use for SYD F rather than HBA QC :)

An update on this: Seems like they've taken away my DBL passes. Ah well. To be honest, I'm surprised they bothered.

They are redeemable for entry to Domestic Business lounges rather then just the Qantas club. I.e. the lounge for Business class and Platinum FF/OWE
I suppose the real question is how superior the domestic business class lounge is versus the Qantas club. Certainly for some airports (I'm looking at you ADL, HBA, CNS) there is no distinction - there's just one lounge area. However, in major ports like SYD, MEL, BNE and PER there are two lounges and there can be a noticeable difference. For instance the MEL and BNE J lounges have nicer views of the tarmac. In terms of facilities they are roughly the same although I think the food offering is a notch better on the business lounge. The one thing where I think the business lounge can make a difference is the issue of crowding. IIRC, the size of most Qantas Clubs and Qantas Business lounges are roughly the same across the network, but remember the only people who can access the lounges are Qantas Platinum/Platinum Ones/OneWorld Emeralds or those flying Qantas business class. The Qantas Club, on the other hand is open to those holding Qantas club memberships, lowly Qantas Gold members like yours truly, those holding credit cards that offer annual Qantas club passes, etc.

Great response . Does that mean one can only use the DBL at a biz lounge if one is flying biz class ?

No, the "DBL pass" is a one time pass, giving access to those who don't normally get it (ie flying Y and SG/OWS and below).
If flying J, you automatically get access.

Me too, removed some time this last weekend. I got my 30,000 points a few weeks ago and the agent on the phone stressed that I must not use the DBL passes because they would be taken away in a few weeks, "some time in October". I took it as nothing more than a stern finger wag but there you go.

All part of the process. You have to apply(accept) for this component of the apology (a percentage won't); then you have to remember to activate it (a percentage won't); then you have to wait to use it under very rigid and restrictive conditions (a percentage won't).

As far as apologies go, this one is very economical, I think. I didn't bother with stage 1.
Hmmm... just finding this out now. Trying to book a QLink flight for my 15 y.o son and I (we each have a promo code), and the promo code wasn't accepted - only one person can be on the booking for the code to be valid (probably discussed in the thread before but couldn't find it)

Yes - part of the conditions. Book seperate and then have the PNRs linked through a call to QF, so you are seen as TCP (Total Complete Party) by the system and check in agents. Depending on status, you might find it hard to find two seats together as well, but being QLink it mightn’t matter anyway (select seats at T-24?)

Cheers,
Matt.
