They say you can't apply for one of these if you already have one - I was just successful when I have an Amex velocity platinum?

Sweet. A 80k aff points and 110k velocity points in 1 year! Love sign on bonuses

Keep going, don't stop now. I'm up to my 9th card application so far in 2016.

is this common?

I have a long way before my 12 months without an Amex is up so haven't bothered applying

This question came up before with the VA AMEX big sign on. It seemed that a few people tested it and AMEX answered that they could have 2 AMEX cards, but not 3. So, "cancel one and we'll consider it". It seemed to work. If you can stand another credit inquiry, not much downside.

Thanks, I missed the previous discussion- I think I will have a go and see

Haha you're an inspiration. Seriously though how do you keep track of them all, knowing when to cancel before the annual fee, l how much to spend to get the points, logins etc! Might apply for another then. If you can get nine I can manage a few more.

Goodo, do tell the outcome.

I think the idea is to get rid of them as soon as the points sweep over. Not much point in keeping them.

With these Qantas Amex cards can they be used to pay tax and get FF points?.

You wouldn't use an amex. The fee is 1.5% so offsets the benefit of the points gained, but it's only 0.4% to pay on visa or MasterCard. Ato accepts credit card pymts. Can even pay the company's tax bill via credit card! Well worth it.

I applied for the Ultimate card through a referral link earlier this month and my 77,500 points just transferred across to Qantas today. However, I thought I would clarify that the minimum spend is $1,500 in 3 months, and not $500 like posted earlier in the thread - from the terms & conditions:

77,500 extra Qantas Points after you spend $1,500 on purchases on your new Card in the first 3 months of becoming a Card Member

I've checked the links posted by a couple of other members upthread, and the $1,500 minimum spend now appears to be standard - perhaps Amex increased the threshold when they extended the offer past the previous 31 May 2016 deadline?

Below is my referral link, should you wish to reward my effort improve the accuracy of the information in this thread :)

It is unclear whether the extra-nice referral offer applies to this card (which means referees get up to 45k bonus points per applicant until August 18), but it may, so if you are considering applying for an Amex card, please consider doing so this month to support your fellow AFF'ers!

As mentioned above, $1,500 of spend on this new card - plus the $450 annual fee - gets you 77,500 points and your first spend on Qantas Air Australia gets you another 2,500 points - plus a free return qantas flight.

For those of you in Perth - you could buy a return ticket Perth to Sydney, book your free return ticket on the same flights for your partner, and use your 80,000 points to upgrade all four flights to business - getting you four business flights worth about $2,000 each for the cost of your annual fee, the minimum spend and one return economy ticket. Food (in the business lounge) for thought!

Please consider using my referral link, scroll down, and click on the grey card in the bottom left of the screen. Thank you for supporting Mr & Mrs Excel's next holiday.

Here's my referral link for this fantastic card - it is a must in your wallet if you eat out often as it gives 3 points per dollar on all restaurant/cafe spend (particularly great if you pay the bill for the group and have everyone give you cash or transfer their share!) - Restaurants/Cafe's also generally have good Amex acceptance.

Also great for travelers as it's 3 points per dollar on QF spend and 2 points per dollar on all other airlines, cruise lines, accommodation, travel agencies plus all foreign spend (including online)! On top of this you get a free Qantas Domestic flight each year after your first QF spend - which means you can actually get great value out of the $450 annual fee!

With the 80000 extra Qantas points on offer when you apply by 31 May 2016 - it is unquestionably a great card to have if you like travelling and eating out, which I imagine is most people here!

The 80000 bonus points offer on this card is still available to those using a referral link (standard offer is 50000) and I just found out Amex is running a July referral points bonanza with extra points for the referees if people apply by 15 August 2016 - so a massive thanks in advance to anyone who uses my referral between now and then :)

Click here to apply. You can also use this link to apply for the Qantas Amex Premium card which comes with 50000 bonus points for you (standard offer is 30000), up to 2 QF points per $ spent and 2 QF Club passes a year for a smaller annual fee of $249pa (just scroll down and select the different card at the bottom of the left column).

Amex are asking current cardholders to refer others, so we all can enjoy the love. Who am I to argue :D

Refer your friends by 31 July 2016 and for each friend who applies using your referral link by 15 August 2016 and is approved, you will earn 60,000 Qantas Points.
You can earn up to 200,000 points in July by referring friends.
They receive up to 80,000 Qantas Points if they are approved for a Qantas American Express Ultimate Card and meet the spend criteria

So here's my link for any who would like 80000 points (plus 60k for yours truly) CLICK HERE:
