Not quite, there is less content loaded on domestic IFE than international. If you fly J for example, you have the same seat and IFE + wifi over Australia.

But you still get seat protectorAnd the J seats are covered in leather, instead of cloth.
Maybe they should give to them at check in so they change in the loungeIt is the same on the SYD-MNL flights. Causes chaos on the overnight return flight with pax changing in/out of PJs.
are you talking redemption seats or commercial $$ purchase? how many seats are you looking for? you can only search online for maximum of 9.I noticed there are hardly any seats in April or May 2026 for Brisbane to Manila, are these likely to have sold out already, or still to be released by Qantas down the track?

Looks like they have a 4 and 9pm slot that might work. Now that the Qantas Group are closing their Jetstar Asia base in SIN, I wonder if QF are looking amongst the 3K MNL slots for more ideal times on their BNE-MNL services.
One iteration of QF32 used to be a “day flight” SIN-SYD.Any Singapore slots that could be used for daytime QF flights SIN-SYD/MEL/BNE ?
Singapore isn't hugely slot constrained, at least not anymore. While it does require coordination, especially around certain peak times and terminal/gate availability, slots certainly aren't their constraint. Also, 3K's slots aren't directly transferable and they'll just go back in the pool. One iteration of QF32 used to be a “day flight” SIN-SYD.
No idea if that slot still exists but who also knows what happens with all those 3K slots?
SQ says they're adding a 5th daily flight to MNL. I wonder where they're getting the slot from. Now that the Qantas Group are closing their Jetstar Asia base in SIN, I wonder if QF are looking amongst the 3K MNL slots for more ideal times on their BNE-MNL services.
Where everyone else gets them, the slot pool ... it's not LHR, there are slots available and slots do become available over time. They are scarce and you can't always get what you want when you want, but airlines apply and get.SQ says they're adding a 5th daily flight to MNL. I wonder where they're getting the slot from.
This change of slots worked in my favour. We had a reward flight in March 2006, Sydney to Manila via BNE arriving early morning. Got a message that my flight had been cancelled (and thought all sort of rude things) but in fact when I checked they have moved us to a direct flight arriving 5:30 pm. Much more civilised.Well Qantas got some better slots as thetimings for BNE-MNL are gone. From late October the new arrival / departure times are 20.20 / 21.45.

Sorry, 2026!20 years ago?!
I'm surprised you're getting into PVG at 10pm. I would've thought the CX134 (08:40) departure would arrive into HKG around 15:00 which connects onto the 17:30 CX flight to PVG. ~20:00 arrival.Interesting reading through this thread.
I regularly flew the Mel > Syd > PVG route to China - pre and post-Covid - then PVG > HKG > Mel on the way back so the cancellation of the Sydney to Shanghai flight was initially disappointing as I would arrive into Pudong around 8pm and get to my hotel (1.5hr depending on traffic) around 10pm or 10.30pm, if everything went to plan.
Since the cancellation, I fly Mel > HKG > PVG same day both ways now, arriving into Shanghai around 10pm if no delays, which means I get to my hotel between midnight and 1am, making it a tough slog and straight up and at work by 8am.
I still fly out of Pudong every time I leave China and the airport is still very quiet compared to how it used to be before Covid and many of the locals I speak to say the same thing: the amount of westerners coming to Shanghai and the neighbouring business districts is still well below pre-Covid levels.
So even with the visa free options available now, demand hasn't picked up meaningfully in both directions so I can't see Qantas bringing back the Syd > PVG route, which I'd still prefer when going to China. just for the more suitable time of arrival to my hotel.
That being said, I don't miss doing the Syd domestic to international transfer and nor do I miss the China Eastern lounge at Pudong!
Yes I fly QF 30 then CX362 to PVG. I don't get enough SC flying Economy via CX to retain Platinum, so I prioritise Qantas where I can, given 90% of my flying is international in economy and I can also upgrade to Business using my QF points, something I can't do flying CX.I'm surprised you're getting into PVG at 10pm. Unless of course you're taking QF30?
There's also the option of gioing off OW and taking FM (China Eastern) direct.
