Qantas will further expand its North American network with more codeshare flights with oneworld partner airline American Airlines.

Qantas and American Airlines will grow their existing codeshare relationship which has been in place since 1989.

From 12 November, Qantas will codeshare on American Airlines services to Houston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Charlotte, Raleigh Durham and Pittsburgh.

Qantas currently operates up to 43 return services per week between Australia and the USA, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Honolulu.

These new codeshares provide customers with access to an additional 47 cities across North Amercia – 42 in the United States and five in Canada.

Qantas Frequent Flyer program members will be able to earn points on all of the new codeshare services.

Qantas FF'ers earn points on all AA flights regardless of codeshare!

I dont see how this makes that big a difference at all... QF links with all AA destinations as it is, and visa versa!

Can be handy for AAdvantage members as all AA fares will earn miles for AA members while the cheaper QF fares will not earn AA miles.

Also may be handy for people undertaking AA's Challenges.

But not all fare classes... so a through booking with Qantas could help some people earn SC's for fares that they otherwise wouldn't have earned SC's on.

I suspect that AA has a code share on almost all the QF flights from LAX to the eastern coast cities. Can someone please convince AA that codes shares on the QF NRT-PER and HKG-PER flights would also be useful?

And since QF code shares (as well as AA numbers) on the NRT-SIN segments SIN-PER might actually be usful as well.

Apologies if I appear to be dreaming

Not AA related, but codeshares can be v. useful for point earnings.

I'm booked on a QF codeshare JL metal SIN-NRT L class - For this WP, it's 50% miles earning on the JL flight number and 200% on the QF number :).
