I do still find it a bit puzzling to judge a product before trying it but your trepadation makes sense.
I fear though for your future as aircraft such as the 787-9 (there is no -900 btw) will become far more the norm as the 747 is retired, and 380's will probably only wind up o trunk routes (unless you're EK

Additional thought, it may be you might want to consider PE or greater for personal comfort in the future if that's a possible choice.
