I'm travelling on a 787 redeye flight (9 hours)and have a pretty wide choice of seats in the PY cabin. I assume row 20 (first row) has extra legroom over the standard PY seat? Does the bulkhead interfere with stretching out? I'm aware of the bassinet seats, that doesn't bother me too much. The alternate is row 23. I'm 180cm and flying solo.

Advice welcome.

I always pick row 20 because it's physically impossible to get out of your seat in any other row if the person in front of you reclines.

Normally I avoid bulkhead seats so I can stretch out more (I'm just over 180cm) but I found row 20 in PE on the 787 to have plenty of space, and can easily get up from the window seat without disturbing pax.

I agree, row 20 if you can. At least you don't have a seat in front of you reclining which is a major downside to QF PE's as it basically kills the legroom.

I’m 6’3 and can easily stretch it in the bulkhead… so defo pick that!

Plus the major advantage of the net footrest… which extends from the bulkhead. This puts your legs fully horizontal and makes sleeping so much easier!

I’ve forgotten but is Row 20 blocked until T-80 (except for P1s)?

The only time I’ve booked PE on a B787 was SYD-HNL (return). Never actually flew in PE because we scored a points upgrade to J on the way over 😁 and free downgrade to whY due to a last minute equipment swap…😔.

In my circumstance, this is one of those odd flights where PY isn't being sold. Nearly all the PY seats available to me( WP) now on a Y ticket, three months before travel. Looks like the bassinet seats are blocked in all cabins.
Thanks for the replies to all.

Just flew QF1 in the PE bulkhead, start of June (A380 31D), and then Qf10 (787) in 21D two weeks later.
I found the footrest thing in the row behind to be much better than the bulkhead footrest. My leg room wasn't reduced on QF10 by the reclined seat in front, but totally agree getting out was a hassle.
Obviously, sleep isn't as much of an issue on a 9 hour flight compared to 16 hours on QF10. But I think the bulkhead footrest on the 787 would have been rubbish for sleeping compared to my experience in the row behind.
