Qantas 787-9 on domestic services

Similarly, I picked up a J CR QF465 on a B787-9 next Monday 6/10, returning from NRL GF.
Similarly, I picked up a J CR JQ4 on a B787-8 next Monday 6/10 for the domestic SYD-MEL sector but hoping no last minute cancellation

I managed to get PE at no cost on a MEL-SYD 787 flight as a lowly bronze. I think they became free to everyone when check-in opened.
Yeah, I was more curious about pre T-80 ie at time of booking.

But obviously useful to know that they free up at T-24 (for those in the know).

PE for free? :)
It was free even on QF51 earlier this year:

From the end of October, Qantas will run a 787 on SYD-PER once per week on Thursdays as Q647/656. This is a domestic flight leaving from the domestic terminals, and PE is being sold as Y.
Noticed this when I went to book a late Nov flight during DSC, 787 SYD-PER. Thought it might have been a one-off, but good to know it's regular!

You get the PE seat but whY catering, because they need to increase capacity or reposition the aircraft.

When they first introduced the dreamliner and were doing SYD-MEL training flights I got W seats on multiple occasions.

Do you know if PE seats are restricted to WP+ or free for all as extra legroom?

I guess I could check that myself if I did a dummy booking! 😉 Alas, no reason to go to PER at the moment but would be keen to get a SYD-MEL vv if it aligned with travel.

I can choose a PE seat on these flights now as a Platinum member. If there are any Gold members here, they could check to see whether they can also do this and report back. You don't have to actually complete the booking to view the seat map.

But not “Extra legroom”? That would be amazing!

When I was SG Row 23 (last row of PE) was available for selection at no charge. This was also for QF656 on the sole day it ran as a red-eye in February.
