Hello all

I have browsed the best status run threads but have had no luck.

I need 600ish Status credits and currently have a 50% extra offer on DOMESTIC flights only. I'm based in Brisbane.

I have tried BNE-KTA and these are coming out needing 600K points for JASA.

Could someone suggest something to me? I am honestly not sure if this post is appropriate so please delete if not. I do not mean to cause harm but have spent the last 2 hours or so trying to book something. Have to fly before end of Jan 2014.

Thank you in advance.

Alternatively, is there anything international I could travel to get the required points (to hit platinum) even though that won't earn me 50% bonus SC.

How are you trying to book, the best value flights require searching for a classic seat then ringing up.

Yes I am heading from Sydney to Adelaide and return on Sunday on Any Seat in J. It cost 79,000 points. I checked Brisbane and Melbourne then realized Adelaide was easier.

Hi Markis

I thought classic seats don't earn points? I need to get 600sc to reach platinum.

How are you trying to book??? To book the cheap Any Seat awards you need to look for a classic award seat on a flight and then ring up to book the any seat award that books into the classic bucket, this will result in much cheaper rates than anything you see online.

Ok, let me summarise here. I will make this a sticky and close the thread, so continue to post comments in the regular thread. If anyone disagrees with my summary, send a PM and I will consider appropriate edits.

Firstly, Any Seat Awards can still be booked on-line with the new booking front-end. Any flight can be booked as a combination of Points plus Pay, which is an Any Seat Award*.

However, Any Seat Awards that book into the Classic award fare buckets of X, Z, U and P cannot be booked on-line. These can only be booked on-line as Classic Awards.

If you want to book an Any Seat Award that books into the Classic Award fare classes, follow this process:

1. Check on-line for classic award availability. If Classic Award availability exists, proceed to next step.
2. Call the new special phone number (1300 366 587) 9am-5pm EST Mo-Fr and ask "I would like to book a Classic Award fare as an Any Seat Award please".
3. You should not be charged any Telephone Assistance Booking Fee for the reservation
4. If the agent does not understand the request, ask them to check with a supervisor and try reversing the request above to "I would like to book an Any Seat Award in X/Z/U/P class" [these are the classic award fare classes for economy/premium/business/first]

Thank you very much Markis. I was trying to book online. That clears it up nicely.

So Bne-kta still considered the best domestically? Ex Bne.

It is but its hard to find, generally out on Friday back Saturday works.

there is no J class on east coast flights direct to KTA you have to come via Perth for that ............ but more SC's that way.... and if you have the points, break up extra flights on way to Perth

I'm looking at doing the CBR-MEL-PER-KTA-PER-SYD-CBR run. 360 SC's and with the 50% offer this bumps it up to 540.

Found a J Classic on a date that is perfect with J class on all 6 legs. So just need to call up and see if I can book it at the JASA rate.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Bizarre... I got this offer a week ago and then today I get the Double SC offer, registered for both, would be nice to think they both count but guess I will ONLY !!!! get double SC's

I wouldn't have thought you had a choice based on this T&C from the 50% offer.
If you qualify for multiple Status credits offers, the offer first-registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment.

There's a SYD-KTA vv flight on Thursdays, BNE-KTA vv on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, MEL-KTA vv on Monday and Tuesdays all on a 738.

Edit: Although there are direct flights, it seems J seats cannot be booked. Just did some dummy bookings and the flights turn up but the pricing on J seats on the direct flights all come up as N/A.

Just keeping it simple today by going SYD-ADL in J for the Haigh's run and back in time for half a day in Sydney. Just wanted to get to WP using the 50% offer.

I need to do the same run - SYD to ADL in J to take advantage of this offer using an ASA. How much should this cost?

I got a quote the other day for 48,000 points + $800! I thought the cash component was crazy. What have others been quoted?

I have booked the reverse since the xASA removal online in June

Booked in August
ADL-SYD-ADL 48k $295.10

Booked in September
ADL-SYD-ADL 48k $295.10

If only I got the 50% SC offer that would get me over the line now I have booked my SC run Syd- Bne- Tsv return Business class at Classic points plus cash

All the directs are sold as Y only since they started.

Re: Qantas 50% Status Credit Offer [Some questions]

Just a couple quick questions if I may indulge... this being my first bonus SC offer.
I had some spare time + $ and booked a couple of weekend adventures to rack up some SC.

#1 Under this offer I'm currently booked on a CNS - BNE - MEL. If I now change this portion of my Flexi booking to the CNS - SYD - MEL service on same day does that affect the +50% SC earning eligibility of that original booking ? ie: the T&C of the recent +50% SC offer said that bookings must be made on or before 3rd Nov 2013. So I'm wondering if me changing the booking now on Nov 14th to another flight would in anyway invalidate the +50% SC earning.

#2 I realise it says "bonus status credits may take up to six weeks to appear in your account" but I was wondering from past experience what have you guys noticed as to typically when bonus SC appear in your QFF account.

#3 I noticed that the regular SC come through very quickly. Last weekend a morning flight from SYD - CNS took me from NB to PS. By the time I checked in for the return flight later that day CNS - SYD - MEL the system already had me as Silver and points home were earned at the Silver rate. With upcoming flights booked under the +50% SC offer, and the eventual flow through of the bonus SC's I will make SG. So I presume from this that any future bookings I have made in the past before status was achieved, are automatically "upgraded" in terms of points-earn to whatever the current status of the member pax is on the day they fly that booking ?

#4 Somewhat OT for this thread but I'll sneak it in if I may - I'm currently a paid QP member. When I get to SG what are my options for the remaining 7 months of my paid QP membership ? Is there a Qantas Club deferral/hold scheme offered ?

#5 Finally... thankyou for being patient. My QFF Membership anniversary is 31st May. If I hit SG in Dec 2013 does that mean I keep SG for Dec 13' to May 14' and then from Jun 14' to May 15' ?

This AFF newbie appreciates your advice and wisdom. :p

Re: Qantas 50% Status Credit Offer [Some questions]

I'll do two of the questions...

#2 I realise it says "bonus status credits may take up to six weeks to appear in your account" but I was wondering from past experience what have you guys noticed as to typically when bonus SC appear in your QFF account.

There is apparently an automated process for adding the bonus SCs that runs each week, reportedly on Tuesdays. I did a flight on a Tuesday and my bonus SCs posted the following Monday. So maybe it's late Monday/Tuesday.

Your QP membership automatically goes on hold until and unless you drop below SG.
