I'm sure prices did come down significantly when fuel surcharges were removed. From memory the cheapest fare you could get on SYDMEL or SYDBNE is somewhere where it is now with the increases ,as it was when surcharges came off over 2yrs ago.I dont have any old visa statments to back that up with me thoughIt's amazing how the prices never go down again when the fuel prices go down.
And why does JQ get a mention in the press release, I thought they were separate entities![]()

Airfares do go down occasionally but only when there is a lot of pressure. It's amazing how the prices never go down again when the fuel prices go down.
QF and the ex-JQ boss can't seem to separate the 2 different entities. I couldn't care less what happens to JQ and I am reading a QF article. And why does JQ get a mention in the press release, I thought they were separate entities![]()
When I first started commuting ~3 years ago SYD-BNE was $128 with sale prices $85, $89 and $95. But take note these airfares included the fuel surcharge separately (and a a totally over inflated fuel surcharge at that) which was dropped a few months later and the base airfare SYD-BNE was ~$85.I'm sure prices did come down significantly when fuel surcharges were removed. From memory the cheapest fare you could get on SYDMEL or SYDBNE is somewhere where it is now with the increases ,as it was when surcharges came off over 2yrs ago.I dont have any old visa statments to back that up with me though
A lot of wealthy people make good money from a rising oil price - I can't see it falling anytime soon.If those nutters in Egypt could sort themselves out it might help global oil prices, but yes i'm sure even then they would come down a lot more slowly than the prices shot up....

The big four banks here don't make huge profits when compared to some large companies around the world when you base it on a return on asset base. As Ralph Norris said the other day:Seems a tad familiar...banks seem to behave the same way with interest rates.
Adjust the base fare, not hide the increases in add-on charges.

Precious little oil exported from Egypt so thats not it. They use pretty much all that they pump out of the ground internally.
