Slightly OT as not Qantas - but I recently opened a pair of saved Virgin Atlantic pjs... seal still intact (they were about a year old, in the old 'sleep suit bag' before the came in a plastic bag) - and I noticed a hair on them! I wondered how the pjs had managed that in the two seconds since I had opened them.
Then unfolding the pants in noticed a lump in the pocket - you know, the same feeling when you have left a tissue in your pants pockets through the washing machine?
And sure enough, on reaching into the pocket there was a squished clumped together airline napkin!!
So clearly these had been salvaged from onboard, washed and repackaged!
I once saw a gentleman going through customs at SYD still dressed in his F pyjamas. I kid you not. I still can't work out to this day whether this was deliberate or whether he had just forgotten. It was truly bizarre.
That was very cleverI still can't get over the star trek comment earlier...

I wear QF PJs on every flight over 5 hours (my longest flight under 5 hours is LHR-LCA where I normally change into shorts mid flight).
I have seen someone in the LAX F lounge (AA Flagship that is) in their PJ top, slacks and formal shoes...
Possibly had an "accident" in his clothes and the PJs were a better option?
Note that I mean he spilt his wine/dinner down his front or had a too-close encounter with projectile vomit from a bairn. I seriously doubt that anyone would just forget that they had PJs on and leave their clothes in the overhead locker.
The Qantas site says that the pyjamas are given out on "selected flights". So, which flights miss out? I'm thinking of QF127, which departs Sydney at 10.45 and arrives Hong Kong at 17.45, or QF88 departing HK at 09.15 and arrives Sydney at 20.25.
I've always managed to avoid Qantas J international until now, but since that's where I'll be sitting in a couple of months I'd hate to miss out on the magical jarmies just because they are day flights.
