Purchasing Seats

So we are flying to the USA in early August 2015 on an early bird fare in Y, I could pre-book our seats paying the $25 each fee to reserve seats 36 J&K, payment accepted and receipt issued. Flying back in late September and during booking asked to reserve seats 71D & 71E, no payment taken but if I look on manage my bookings still shows up as requested, however I am unable to confirm payment or choose an alternate seat. If someone could advise it would be appreciated.
