How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest? thread this year...?
Dare I proceed with my 2 night stay in October and check out if anything's improved, or are there some recent experiences to share by others?
I stayed there last Tues and 3 weeks before that. It's my main airport hotel for morning departures and evening arrivals and I don't have a problem with its price/offerings level.
Last Tues was my first stay at this hotel since hitting Diamond. No additional benefits observed except the welcome amenity has changed from that little white box with the black platinum sticker (don't know whats in them as I give them away) to a jar of chocolate peanuts plus the bottle of 500ml water. Even though they don't often give me a bottle of wine in the welcome amenity, they always have them on display on a table behind reception for new members. If you ask them for one as a plat they will oblige.
The evening canapes are standard 2 hot and a selection of non heated offerings. Usually the 2 hot food has 1 deep fried and 1 non but sometimes both hot items are fried. There's been kebabs, chicken pieces, lamb pieces, beef pieces, arancinis, pies, sausage rolls, meatballs (beef/lamb) etc. Most of the time I find them quite acceptable, better than what you'd get at Pullman Adelaide. The shiraz is standard quality for a hotel freebie, no better or worse than at even the Sofitels. There's a white, a sparkling and of course beers. Not sure if there are coughtails, I've never asked.
The bench does get packed most nights (the 2 tables for 2 are snapped up usually by the first to arrive) but you can sit in the overflow bench by the entrance (to the restaurant), the bar next to it or even the lobby area (just tell a staff member if going to the bar or lobby so they don't think you are taking food/drink to your room).
The room upgrades here are basically if you book std, you'll get a higher floor (usually executive L10,11,12) which may be higher than the building next door so you will hopefully look out over it or ask for a room facing the road.
The breakfast has à la carte or buffet but you can't have snippets of both. I find it good for what I have - chia pudding, bircher muesli, yoghurt, fruit, eggs cooked to order and barista coffee (repeats even).
I tend to book a corner room (with a bath) and get allocated ones on the executive floors L11 or 12. There are only 6 of these so (if not paid booked) get allocated by status - limitless, diamond, platinum.
You'll get the usual standard "thank you for your loyalty" most of the time.
It is handy to the airport (even if not flying but want to dine at icebergs et al), mascot shops/restaurants/station.
I don't observe the hotel are improved or deteriorated over time. It's a solid offering for my needs.
