Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Last time I went on the 901 from Broadmeadows to Melbourne Airport it was standing room only in early afternoon April. I think the trick has caught on as it's usually not that full
Also time of the year that you do it.
Dec/Jan can be busy.
Have seen people bring all their big boxes onto the bus.
The 901 if it had luggage racks or artic buses would have been great, but the Vic gov decided to have it as a normal suburban bus, rigid, with limited luggage zone, so people fill up the disabled seating first with their boxes, then the aisle, then its standing room only.
That is too, if you are lucky enough to be the first in the informal line up, not to mention that people also get in the back door, then waddle to front to put their boxes/huge bags anywhere...
Yes, it, the 901 is a great cheap service, but even before the free ride (as of now), it can be quite full/very full with a rigid bus.

The busses to/from airport West are fine but by the time you connect with a tram as well maybe a train at Essendon to get to/from the CBD, Broady is more efficient. (It was better when the 478 serviced Essendon R/S,)
