Problems with Agoda hotel booking

We booked a 2 day break at the Copthorne in Singapore on our way back home. Arrived to find the hotel full so was transferred to the Orchard. They however only have a room for one night so back to the Copthorne tonight. We were not planning on spending so much of our break packing, unpacking and moving. Very little help from Agoda. Have asked them to try again here at the Orchard or to offer compensation. We'll see!
 
I am not sure what Agoda can do for you, it was the hotel that overbooked then walked you, even booking direct this will often happen, but you will be refunded the first night if its ICHG for instance.

Agoda came back with an offer of 10% reduction on the whole booking so that's something!
 
10% on 2 nights is not quite the 50% I would be demanding. I'd be going to the hotel and see what they offer. After a period of time with no resolution, consider a charge back as you did not receive the service for which you paid- 2 nights at the Copthorne.

Singapore is pretty service-oriented, I would be having it out with the Copthorne for compensation.

That said, it is a small reminder of the benefits of booking directly with a hotel - it would be easier to gain compensation, I feel.
