Problem connecting to US Streaming Services

I'm a keen golfer and regularly watch the US PGA tour on Kayo. In 2025 Kayo (read Foxtel) changed the TV broadcasters to ESPN. Personally I find the commentators and general coverage on ESPN boring and not a patch on the commentators from CBS, Golf Channel and NBC. I suspect its a cost saving move by Foxtel.
I've tried to set up a subscription to a few US broadcasters to access the better broadcasters but keep hitting a roadblock. Using a VPN I can set up an account on Peacock or NBC but when I put my credit card in it isn't accepted. I assume because it recognises my card in non US. Is there a work around this that doesn't involve trying to apply for a US credit card?

Is it the Zip/Postcode that is tripping up the system? I have in the past had problems using the standard Australian postcode with my Aus credit card, but adding a zero in front made it better?

Agree with possible zipcode - 90210 is always handy.

Other way you could do it if you have a card that holds US$ like Wise see if that makes a difference when paying

I've used a US zip code in trying to put cc details in on Paramount+ but get an error message so it must recognise my non US cc. Can you give me a quick overview on how Wise works? It looks like my Virgin Money High Flyer CC supports it.

Hope this helps but let me know if you need anything else.

If you do go down the wise route I can send you a referral

I've set up a Wise account and have tried to transfer $30 into it to use later. I don't want to use a credit card because of potential extra costs to transfer money so am trying to use my Macquarie bank account. I've tried using both the debit and credit option but both bombed with Macquarie saying something about a UK Wise account and to contact them (which I haven't done yet).

To be honest I'm a bit at sea in what I'm doing here in trying to figure out what currency to use in doing what action. I get a message saying I'm trying to transfer US dollars into my Wise account.

All I want to do is set up a payment to a US business that doesn't recognise I'm in Australia

Any advice?

Are you trying to transfer AUD - if not try that. You can then convert that to USD

Just to clarify - are you asking if I'm trying to transfer to Wise or the US subscription service? There was an early question in the setup about what currency I wanted to use and I said $US. I was thinking the question related to where the payment (subscription service) was going to go. I'll try to change the transfer into Wise to AUD. Obviously I'm still trying to get a handle on how this works hence the dumb questions. Thanks

Yes transfer AUD to your wise card and then convert it to US dollars. Happy to answer any questions don’t feel bad.

Using AUD has worked but for some reason Wise is telling me they are checking my account and it will be Saturday 31/1 until the money will be in my account. I'll give them the benefit of assuming this is because its my first transfer.
