Never seen it open since the pandemic.

This. We were on MEL-BNE last Sunday (22/5) and on entry to the Lounge it was closed, however it reopened in enough time for the 1900-batch of flights to go through. MEL is arguably the worst for design and location of lounge and security. It’s been randomly open and shut without notice. The VA lounge dragon said it was being impacted by lack of staff, they have a minimum number of people they need to operate it apparently and if even one calls in ‘sick’ then it’s kaput.
