Priority Privilege Club fails with its promises

Here's where some PP double dipping was discussed: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....b/how-do-priority-privilege-dining-31742.html

Of course, if during your stay you use a total of >= $50 of room service, bar, mini-bar or even beverages when dining (you can still use your Dining Discount on the food) and bill it to your room then those costs will be allowed with the $50 hotel credit certificate.

Doesnt change the fact it's allowed as per their terms and conditions, they need to change them if they want to tighten up the program, until they do then they stand liable for misleading and deceptive conduct action not for the first time.

I'd say that under their actual T&Cs it's not allowed but the photos you posted make it look like it could be OK.

PP!! It's mostly good. Except when it isn't! :) I've had a few 'discussions' with them over the years! :)

It's been like that since 1998 when it was pacific privilege, at $309 starting to get into waste of money category.

Re: Allowing double dipping of accommodation and dining benefits.

PP T&Cs:

"2. Priority Privilege Dining Discount can not be used in conjunction with any other dining discounts or offers, e.g. Kids Eat Free at Holiday Inn."

Isn't Kids Eat Free actually an accommodation benefit? Considering only registered guests staying at the hotel are entitled to it? So there is the example of how a accommodation benefit (that in turn gives a dining benefit) cannot be used with a PP Dining Discount. And the Kids Eat Free is just an example of such an offer.

Of course we know that many hotels allow both Kids Eat Free and the PP Dining Discount at the same time. But they'd be entitled to say no if they wanted to.

Kids eat free does not require you to be a guest.

Holy cow Batman !!

What a discussion !!

Isn't the REAL trick with this $50. voucher ... that it must be handed in / surrendered to Reception upon check-in ??

In a way, that 'registers' your intent to use the voucher for hotel ( or accommodation ) benefits ... to include whatever is on your account at the END of your stay - other than the accommodation tariff.

( to include ANY items, eg., room service, mini-bar, car parking, any restaurant dining attributed to the Room account - even AFTER PP card discount )

That's what it says on the voucher. But, as with many PP things, it's not always demanded that way by the hotel.

And the voucher is supposed to be just a F&B benefit. E.g. It can't be used for car parking. But again some hotels might accept it for anything.

CP CBR was the hotel that accepted ours (in fact suggested it).

Got a targeted email to renew today ...

Offered a $100. voucher ( additional to the $50. + others ), plus the usual comp. for IHG credit vouchers ( 1 x $500. + 4 x $150. )

... but only for today !! ( yeah, the old marketing trick ... but it worked !! )

I was going to renew anyway, so the added $100. voucher will definately get used ...

What's the "usual comp for IHG credit vouchers"?

I was offered the run of the mill PP offering + a $100 dining voucher to renew on-line. I wasn't that taken by the offer so I rang them out of curiosity to ask if they had any special incentives to prompt me to renew. I was offered the same $100 dining voucher and nothing else. When I pushed a little bit more I was told there were no other incentives..........I thanked her and hung up. I haven't renewed.

Not sure if you get entered into the comp. on your own initiative to renew ...

but when prompted by targeted email, I was advised, that if I renew today, I will be entered into the comp. / ballot draw for a $500. IHG credit card as first prize. There are four second prizes of $150. cards.

I understand these are to be used at any IHG property, for any component of your hotel bill.

Ahhh... "comp." meaning competition not complimentary ! ;)

Ummm, yes ...

Sorry... "comp" around here tends to mean complimentary.

Plus, entries into a competition as a bonus for "signing up" (especially "singing up today") don't usually get people here rocking out of their chairs. :)

I got the same pitch for the two times I was asked to renew. Of course, the last time they pitched it and I blew my gasket, the agent conveniently forgot to tell me it was $100 voucher for food credit only (i.e. hotel restaurant). (He kept banging on that it was $100 to use as you like at the property).

Well, depends I guess, on how you 'value' PP as a program ...

I have derived 'a lot' from it, and that's why I continue with it.

but anyway ...

If you had that much going with IHG in Australia, it's actually not a bad programme. You can save quite a fair bit on it (in a similar way to the old Hilton Premium Club or Hilton-Macquarie programme).

I was kind of on that "marginal" point (could be good value, but travel was winding down a bit); the way they were messing me around kind of made me blow a gasket and can them. Not before letting them know of my disgust, of course. (At least they refunded my subscription).

I concur. My chair is firmly stationary. Not even a hint of rocking. Perhaps I should get the fluffy slippers and corn cob pipe to see if that helps! ;)

Thanks Rick93, I was thinking complementary rather than competition too! Competitions count for zip in my books...........however, complementary 1 x $500 + 4 x $150 vouchers would have done the trick in a flash ...........

What happened to all the discounted memberships from last year? Didn't someone get an offer of renewal for $199 or something?
