Priority luggage, enough is enough.

I would again like to apologise for disappointing you and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you aboard Qantas again soon.
Sounds very much like "****" off" to me.

If you think your baggage tag maybe damaged please contact the Qantas Shop on 02 9436 1000 for a replacement tag.
This statement pretty much proves above point- they clearly didn't even bother properly reading the letter!

Given the number of wannabe DYKWIAs that wear their RFID Q-Tag into the QP, maybe issuing BPs for checked in bags and Q-tagging the passengers could overcome these problems :p.

OUCH!!!

But yeah, I do see a lot of Q-tags on carry on luggage...

....
Said that the as Qtags have no label on them, handlers don't know where bag is going.

As bags come off the plane in CNS, there is no scanner at the aircraft.

Bag is set to the side and has to be taken to the tranship area for scanning to find out where it is going - CNS or connecting flight.

This occurs after all the bags have been unloaded from the aircraft.

Priority is LAST.

So use normal paper tags best option.

Classic case where the tail doesn't know where the head is going.

No tag scanner at the ramp!

No wonder I had never used the tags, preferring the old fashioned paper print outs.

Maybe the handheld tag scanner is still on the QF acquisition list and is subject to OHS assessment prior to being accepted by the handlers' union

Being conservative occasionally helps

They do look good in the packaging - that's where mine still are ..

I added mine to the rest of my acquired travel memorabilia in the pool room where they are useful beer coasters & paperweights. :D

The RF tags don't work. I only use paper ones now. The checkin staff look be,used when they try to ask why I don't use them and I launch into "well, let me tell you........."

Originally when I complained to QF I was given the usual brush off.

Now 12 months later with some data I too was given the same usual brush off.

Again really it's not that big a deal but sometimes 5 minutes is very important.

I would even settle for a 70% success rate, but that seems even like a pipe dream.

Just curious as to how you measure weather your bag was given priority treatment or not?

Priority baggage does work without fail! In asia. Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong... if your bag is marked priority and it doesn't come out with the priority bags you can pretty much safely walk to the lost luggage counter and start filling out a claim form!

As for Qantas enforcing priority baggage? Dead easy. All managers should have goals and targets as part of their performance (and pay increase) plans. Ensuring priority bags get delivered first should be one of those goals (other key ones being the handling of baggage with care). Don't meet your goals? No bonus. That simple.

Priority baggage is not that important to me but more often than not it does work. When I have been at the carousel waiting for bags very rarely has my bag been one of the last out and most times it is out in the first 50 or so bags and some times in the first 10 or so bags.

I do not use the Q bag tags.

Mine are in mint condition. If I ever find them....

Flew Mel yesterday and back to CBR today. We used our cards to checkin and did baggage drop with our tags (first time we have been game to do it). Worked well and luggage out early both times - given we have had a patchy experience in the past our sample of 2 was better than usual......

However security queue was interesting in Mel - the airport was absolute chaos and both queues to go through security very long. We joined the back of the priority one - the people in front of us had nabbed a QF ground person and were talking to him. He told them to follow him and then indicated to us to follow as well - he took us basically to the front of the queue - where the blue trays are and we went in ahead of all the other people. Have no idea why - I was clutching my Platinum card, so don't know if he thought everyone else in the queue was not priority or what. Felt a little uncomfortable - I hate people who push in, on the other hand don't look a gift horse in the mouth - has this happened to anyone else?

I was escorted to the front of the priority queue after showing my boarding pass. Up until then they had been channeling regular passengers into the priority queue.

ok so maybe everyone else wasn't priority - it is not something I would have asked for, but it was nice to skip the queue.....

You're just wanting to cash in on exactly the wannabe DYKWIAs that I alluded to who want to attach them to their carry-on as phoney status upgrades :p.

I have the original WP coasters that look like PS to the uniniated, so I'd have no hope of unloading them on said internet sales website unless I get out the black Artline pen .
