Worked well in MEL today. Someone from the other line tried to push in front of me but the FA called me forward instead. We won't talk about the massive line on the air bridge...

Yes sometimes it is just skipping one queue for another, particularly on the B738's. At CNS the lack of Priority boarding is not so bad when you can overtake people on those long ramps they make you walk up to board.

Premium boarding is now supposedly offered at CNS. That being said though, I've only ever seen it work once.

You'll all be delighted to know priority boarding is now offered in Darwin. According to the sign it's only for WP1 and WP. According to the masses it's for anyone.

Like the carry on baggage allowances, I have noticed recently (maybe the past 3-6 months) that QF staff really don't appear to give a stuff. One time the did, but not now.

Sadly I think priority boarding is like the lounge dress code. It's been allowed to be lax for so long that pulling in the reins is now a significant task.

A former teacher colleague of mine once gave me some advice. He said "The first time I walk into a classroom, the kids don't breath unless I tell them to". And I think that's why VA does it so well. They've done it since day dot and it's expected.

So

VA from SYD on an ATR
Connecting to
QF from CBR on a 737

Guess which had PB??

Albeit with under 15 people on the VA flight it was barely required.

QF staff really need to study the VA SYD gate layout and how simple it makes PB.

QF619 BNE-MEL today - arrived at the gate, to this:

A few bemused Plats/Business pax went down the general boarding lane and asked if they could be boarded and she suggested they go to the end of the other line - which was over 100 long.

Great start for my first flight as a WP! Shame - it has worked so well when I was SG... it's cursed.

I would have asked what had happened to the Priority Boarding, if for no other reason than to make the FA aware that they were failing to offer the published QF policy/benefit.

There's no rule stopping status passengers using the general boarding queue is there? Seems strange they turned you away.

I've had it work the other way. Faced with that situation as a PS I've walked straight down the general boarding queue as befits my status and boarded. It was like Claytons status. (if you're old enough to know what I'm talking about)

Happened to me many times in Brisbane. Especially going to perth
I questioned it to staff, was always treated rudely about it. They never did anything
Now I fly Virgin!

At last!!

It seems Qantas has finally decided to go the whole hog and adopt VA's PB process - including signage.

Waiting to Board the 694 tonight ... unfortunately the signage was wheeled away and it was back to the standard QF Boarding Process..,

Hahahaha. Yes they're doing work around gate 15 in adelaide. It's messed things up somewhat, with VA aircraft down the qantas end. Had to deboard at gate 19 last night flying VA.

Was funny watching VA staff setting up for boarding at gate 20 as well, a bit of confusion with everything being on the wrong side.

I just wonder if airlines would sell priority boarding, in cash (say with bundling) or by miles/points, to help themselves financially.

JQ did for a while and then stopped. EasyJet do and so does Ryan Air. AA has a similar thing where you can buy Choice Plus and it gives you an earlier boarding group. Airlines out there do this, just how well it goes down with flyers and how it'll affect their brand is a different story altogether.

I just wonder why they have priority boarding but only one person processing BP cards and they stand on the non priority side which really pees off those people when priority people are accepted first - albeit alternately from the non priority side. No one is happy Jan!
