I've been flying around Brazil on TAM Airlines for the past week, and as a oneworld sapphire member (QF Gold) my baggage has not been tagged as "priority" once.

I was under the impression that this was a guaranteed benefit of oneworld status when flying a oneworld airline. As per the oneworld website:

This is different to the problems many of us have with QF where the bag is tagged as priority but comes out last. My bag isn't getting tagged at all.

I'm just wondering what other peoples' experiences are with this? Is this the case on most oneworld airlines, or just TAM? Is it worth complaining to oneworld?

I realise it's very much a first world problem, but it's an advertised benefit so it would be nice to receive it.

No matter what airline, I always wait the 30 seconds to check that the staff put on the appropriate priority tag. It can save 10 or 15 minutes at the other end. Some airlines don't use a separate priority tag, but have it coded on the normal bag tag.

Doesn't sound like TAM realise their obligations.
I've just completed 12 OW flights in the past 3 weeks with 6 different OW carriers and on each and every flight, bags were tagged priority without prompting.
Worth a polite reminder to the checkin staff.

Sorry to hijack.
Do you know what the deal with BA is and why they got an exclusion on priority luggage.

Also how does it work for BA connecting to other OW? You just don't get it at all for those flights if you start with BA?

BA tagged our bags as priority the other week LIN-LHR

I have had priority bags on QR, AA and LAN.

But as we all know, sometimes means nada.

My understanding is that BA don't advertise offering it to their own Elites as they are unable to reliably deliver the service-hence unable to offer to other OW also
There are rumours that it is due to an unwillingness for UK baggage handlers to pander to the 'upper classes' but suspect not in reality

I'm flying TAM again on the weekend. Will ask the check-in staff to tag my bag and see what the response is...

I had mine tagged each LAN/LATAM flight. Plus the pointless Preferente boarding when you are boarding out on the tarmac with everyone else crammed on a bus. My partner even got his tagged with mine on one ;)

Did they come out first? Hahaha. Not a chance. See my recent post about flight from La Paz...
