Printing your boarding passes, that will be 300 Euro

I assure you that Ryanair do not actually want to charge 60EUR for a boarding pass. It happens so infrequently that they rarely make money from it.

The reason for the high charge, like the high charge for luggage and all the other ridiculous charges is to discourage folks from burdening the airline with pointless stuff.

You are warned prior to purchasing of the need to bring a boarding pass.

The less work staff have to do the less staff Ryanair need, that's part of their cost model. It works exceptionally well.

If you ever get the chance to meet Michael O'Leary you will see that he is a charismatic, intelligent and considerate person. He is not out to screw joe bloggs flyer. He is out there to ensure that air travel is affordable to everybody. If that means a few lazy sods on their annual Spanish beer fest have to cough up 300EUR so the rest of us can enjoy a trip from London to Dublin for 25 EUR then so be it.

It was not €300, it was €60. There were 5 boarding passes!

News just in ...... 5 boarding passes at 60 Euro equals 300 Euro.

And now I am guilty of posting the second most pointless contribution to this thread. Thanks for nothing!

I fly frequently without printing a boarding pass. QF print a docket at the gate. The fees weren't $1,000 or $1 million so bringing arguments like that in are equally ridiculous.

Hmmmm. Looks like I went over some people's head with my original post. The point I was trying to make was the mere fact that something is in the fine print does not make it reasonable or even defensible in law. Do you think otherwise?

I also find your characterization of people flying on Ryanair as vulnerable. Vulnerable enough to book cheap flights to Dublin to get pissed at the guiness factory?

Vulnerable in the fact that they are not often frequent travellers and are perhaps less savvy about the T&C consequences of a LCC trying to maximise profits. Your characterisation of them as opportunistic drunks I find offensive, but that's me.
