Price of multi-leg redemptions using Velocity points...

Thought I'd ask you guys as I've received 2 different answers from VA...

Looking at travelling on Etihad or SQ using Velocity points. Does the points cost referenced in the redemption tables here include multi-stop (no stopover) itineraries to get to your final destination, i.e. where two different flight numbers are required? - e.g. MEL-AUH-FRA or SYD-SIN-BKK?

Or, do they price up the points as the cost of two redemptions, e.g. MEL-AUH plus AUH-FRA?

That redemption table doesn't appear to mean anything. From my poking around, it seems prices are directly correlated to what you'd pay in dollar amounts for the same ticket.

That doesn't seem too transparent. Would that be why redemption table uses dodgy language like 'points from'?

Can you remember any example prices you have been given?

I'd like to understand this also.
Price-wise, there's very little difference on whether when flying to Europe regardless of whether you fly MEL-AUH-FRA or MEL-AUH, AUH-FRA. I'm assuming the difference is just departure tax?

Are velocity partner redemptions on a 'points from' basis and change according to the actual fare $$ cost?

The points tables state "The Point prices below are the minimum Points required for Virgin Australia redemptions or the base fare for international partner redemptions." Does that mean you could pay more points than the 'base fare', or just that you have to $$ taxes/surcharges on top?

It means that you may require more than the minimum points if you cannot book a 'reward seat' and need to book an 'any seat award' (xASA) which change in both fare class and price.

That's my understanding and experience, yes
