As a former "Insurance Man", all I can say is "good luck"!

Hi George,

You'll find all travel insurance companies will give you grief about heart related issues as it sets off red flags in their medical underwriting department.

As an agent, I find Covermore are pretty good, their form is basic, will require a doctor to complete a section, but usually they cover most cases for a fee.

None the less, noones going to cover you without some sort of form as they require the disclosure of your condition to determine risk.

All the best.

We are using a multi trip policy with Covermore this year. Another option, depending on your age, could be Australian Seniors Insurance Agency .

The problem is that selecting an insurer can be a lottery because you don't really know what they are like until a claim emerges and then it might be too late to recover without litigation.

Another problem is that if you are declined by one company, you are usually required to state this when applying for cover with other companies.

Good luck :-|

I think you will find that the larger Australian Health Funds have travel insurance packages. I just checked with ours for my wife's upcoming trip. Not the cheapest but within a reasonable amount. They probably would be willing to talk about pre-esiting conditions with you in a more rational tone than the travel only companies.

I have claimed once. The company now refuses to insure me in any travel mode. Most likely because I invoked the section to recommence travel after return to Australia. This is now being limited in some policies and companies.

Happy searching

I don't see whats unrational about wanting full disclosure from someone with heart issues in order to make an informed decision as to whether they choose to underwrite what is for any insurance company dealing with a heart pre-ex cond., a fairly large risk.
