With its new A321neo J lie flat 2-2 BNE - MNL that started today and not so long ago converted 1-2-1 J in A333s from SYD and MEL, PR has quite a few offers on its website.
The Oz - MNL return J fares are about 20 per cent cheaper than QF sale fares, yet PR's A333s (and A321neo) are younger while the airline has a good safety record.
Japan features heavily, as do BKK, SIN, LAX and TPE among others. Travelling to SIN via MNL is backtracking so that may not be very attractive, but the other ones are more logical.
A sample fare is SYD - LAX J return A$5419 or MEL - KIX $3319.
By comparison the current QF sale fare MEL - KIX is A$4091, so PR is more than a $350 saving each way. Neither offers a nonstop (although QF does to NRT from MEL.)
Fares are available until 15 July with travel to 31 December though it would unrealistic to expect many (or any) seats in the pre Christmas period though one never knows.
If one finds a specialist travel agent they should be able to beat these prices.
