Power Outage at BNE

Is anybody stuck in BNE?

According to Brisbane Airport's Twitter account

We can confirm that power is down at the Brisbane Domestic Terminal and car park. We are investigating the cause and will keep you updated.

I remember a similar incident at SYD and the drama that caused.

Seems to happen quite a lot at BNE domestic - no doubt due to the large amount of construction work at the new carpark/airtrain/roadworks that have been going on. Backup power seems a bit hit and miss - so once the power is out they can't use airbridges, checkin, lighting, aircon, security scanners and screening etc so the whole operation comes to a grinding halt, the last time I saw it there were no arrivals and departures for about 30 mins.

I wonder if the boom gates are stuck in the 'lowered' position, trapping cars?

I wonder if the boom gates are stuck in the 'lowered' position, trapping cars?

I wouldn’t be happy about that and don’t know what I’d do if I was in the position… but know the lanes are incredibly wide and they have cones on the far side because of this, so in that situation might just drive around.

From the www.bne.com.au website it looks like there were 30 minute delays earlier but things are back to schedule now, though could still be a bit busier inside…
