So I recently booked a return flight ASP-MEL-LHRxSIN (during DSC). I wasn't entirely sure exactly what day I'd prefer to fly out so I booked Flex economy outbound and Saver inbound. Flight date 6/1/26-27/1/26 in case it makes a difference.
Today I tried to reschedule slightly. 24hrs in Melbourne and a day earlier.
First I was told I would have to pay a $125 change fee due to 'most restrictive conditions' applying to all flights, which in my opinion is just utter BS - I've also looked through as many T&Cs as I can find including making as to book the flights again and can't see anywhere that I'd have to pay to change my fully flexible flights based on an unrelated return leg.
I was all set to suck it up at the time and make a complaint about it after.. until the quote comes through to change my flexible flights.
Over $1300 extra. For a flight that costs no more than $300 extra if I were to book it outright on the website right now - with the same fare classes as before. It doesn't even include the 24h in Melbourne which is apparently impossible - it's just 1 day sooner.
All the agent is telling me is that I can't book a lower fare class or a cheaper one - which a) doesn't apply and b) is untrue since the ticket conditions state a flight credit can be used to book fares lower than my original ticket.
Additionally I'm being told that stopovers just aren't permitted - therefore I can't spend 24h in Melbourne - even though the fare conditions say "Unlimited free stopovers permitted in each direction".
OK, rant over. But what the hell?
Looking forward to getting my LTG and exclusively flying other oneworld airlines. Also considering rage cancelling this and future bookings, but probably won't because LTG would be nice..
