A reminder not to do silly things when on holiday.

A POLISH tourist who was posing for a photograph while holding onto grass on a cliff edge in the UK has fallen to his death.

The 29-year-old man fell more than 90 metres down the cliff face at Seaton, Devon, and landed in bushes below.

There was a woman in Germany the other day who thought it'd be fun to swim with the polar bears in the zoo. She's in the hospital though, not dead. Not sure if she was a tourist, but some people...

And regarding posing for photos on a cliff edge, I was very happy that all the cliff edges I found in Tasmania a couple years ago were fenced off so that couldn't happen.

If I have understood the article correctly....the silly beggar did not stand too close to the cliff edge...BUT rather had clambered over the cliff edge only secured by the tuft of grass that he was holding on to...and which gave way....

Yes a worthy Darwin Awards winner.

I thought the major criteria for nomination for the Darwin Awards is that the person did not survive? By that criteria, she is not eligible for nomination for this event at this time.

No, I agree with NM - to be eligible at all they must enhance future generations of humans by removing themselves from the gene pool.

A possible exception perhaps could be made for those who survive but lose their ability to reproduce.

Do the Darwin Awards include tourists who took one backward step to many at the southern face of the Grand Canyon? There is a book that relates the stupidity of tourists at the Canyon over the years.

Although this was a very careless act that was paid for with loss of life sometimes some things on the spur of the moment do not sound so silly. Hindsight is a wonderful gift not many people possess....
