Just seen it on sky news.

News reports suggest that it was pilot error due to foggy weather.
Apparently the controllers suggested that the pilot divert but they didn't.

Big crash, wiping out a lot of the Polish government, but the president wasn’t the nicest guy, ala “Parade of Normality”.

I read another report about a helicopter crash a few years back and the official involved said they’d end up replacing the air fleet when they next met at a funeral probably. Sad to see it’s probably going to be at that time.

Of all the candidates for conspiracy theories, this could be a good one. Russian media and politicians are already in overdrive blaming the pilot and claiming passenger numbers that didn't tally with anyone else's. And it's in Russian airspace and in memory of the massacre of >22,000 Poles, Ukrainians and others under Stalin, that the Russians have covered up and denied for far too long (as well as fabricated their own version of events for the majority of that time).

In Russia, things - and deaths in particular - are often not as the Russians make out.

Saw the conspiracy theories coming.
