I recently booked a Flexi ticket from TSV - BNE. I called later that same day and used my points and upgraded to J.

A few days later I called the Airline to request the flight be changed to a later departure ( I had originally booked the 6am departure) and was told I had to pay a $154 fee, which is the difference between the Flexi fare ($285) and the J fare ($439).

I thought, and obviously I am wrong, but once I used my points to upgrade to J then I would be able to change the time of my flight like a normal J fare.

so, if I did pay the $154 to change my flight time, what happens to the 3700 points I originally used to upgrade? Do they get refunded or do they just disappear into the velocity black hole???

I'd give them a call back to speak to someone else. I have changed a number Velocity J Upgrade flights without paying in the last 3 months.

I am fairly certain you are subject to normal J terms and conditions for the upgraded flight - which means you can move it.

Edit: Here is the TOC line.

• FLIGHT CHANGES: You can change the date and time of your flight and you do not have to pay a change fee. For date and time changes,
you may only make a change to another Velocity Upgrade Fare for Business. To make changes to your booking, contact the Guest Contact
Centre (GCC) not more than 24 hours after the flight departure time of your original booking.

According to this you should be able to change as long as an 'upgrade' seat is available.

Called again, this time spoke to a lady who knew exactly what she was doing. Flight was changed without issue and at no extra cost.

Thanks for your help bullerdude.

I think sometimes the issues arises because the points upgrade doesn't get embedded in the booking. I had that recently for a return flight to Perth and was none too apprehensive that I would end up in Y but all was OK, it just wasn't reflected on what I could see in the system.

Hi

I just tried to time change a flexi upgrade with points - the lady said I had to cancel my current booking and call up with the new PNR to get a new upgrade processed. She said I would get a full refund of the $$ and points. This is contrary to the fare conditions.

You can change the date and time of your flight and you do not have to pay a change fee. For date and time changes,
you may only make a change to another Velocity Upgrade Fare for Business. To make changes to your booking, contact the Guest Contact
Centre (GCC) not more than 24 hours after the flight departure time of your original booking.

You can cancel your flight by calling the GCC, and you can obtain a credit that can be used within 12 months for future
flights, but a cancellation fee will be deducted from the credit. Alternatively, you can request a refund for the cancelled fare and once again
a cancellation fee will be deducted

What have other people experienced?

Edit: Also do you call the velocity number or the GCC to change. I tried the velocity number.
