Can someone point me in the right direction please? I'm trying to work out what the points and status value will be of an AA itinerary that we'll be flying soon. I had a look at Mileage Monkey and it showed me some miles, but I couldn't see any thing re status or how I'd calculate bonusues for WP etc. Is there something on the AA site that I've missed or something else somewhere?

Planning to do HNL-DFW-RIC-DFW-SJC-LAX-HNL. All in F (YUPP) except SJC-LAX which is American Eagle one class.

I'm Platinum and Mrs Ikara is Gold.

Thanks in advance.

Plug it into mileage monkey, select QFF and "Ignore Errors".

Look down at the resultant earning table.

For SC's, take the 690 F total, subtract the 60 for SJC-LAX in F and add 20* for SJC-LAX in Y for a total of 650.

(* mileage monkey assumes L; YUPs normally book into Y for AeAgle flights so Full Y SC's instead)

For QFF points, take the 308 out of the 10,394 total for SJC-LAX and multiply the 10,086 by 2½ (2x status bonus, ½ cabin bonus) for you and 2 (1½ Status bonus and ½ cabin bonus) for Mrs Ikara. Then for you, multiply the 308 by two and add the product to your total. For mrs Ikara multiply the 308 by 1½ - the result is < 500 so add 500 (min earn on AA) to her total.

Using Mileage Monkey, insert your itinerary into the "OneWorld Explorer Validator" and tick the box "ignore errors".

Down the bottom, it will show the SC's (and total mileage) for the flights in Discount Y, J and F.

690 SC's (if it all was in F). Take off 40 SC's due to SJC-LAX being in Full Y class and that makes it 650Sc's according to my calculations.

To get the number of points, you'd have to look at the returned distance for each flight and do the manual calculations (or make a guestimate based on the total number of miles travelled).

[or basically what serfty said :) ]

One more question if I may please.

Given our routing of HNL/DFW/RIC/DFW/SJC/LAX/HNL which looks to be worth about 10K miles is there any value in my wife and I joining AAdvantage? Currently I have my QF# in the booking so I assume the points will go there. I don't anticipate being back in the US for quite some while, so not sure if there is any benefit to be gained.

And another one.

How can I confirm that my FF# has been entered into my AA booking. I have the AA booking reference which I've used to arrange my seating, but was unable to see my FF# anywhere?

JB

Given it is all AA the old standby of checkmytrip wont work I think.

The question is - why worry? Your seats are locked in (as locked in as any seat is on any airline) and you can always confirm at check in and on your BP. The US airlines are pretty average but they are not completely incompetent.

Actually, I have found the to be a problem with the FF number(s) not getting into the booking correctly on more than one occasion.

It is important; especially with status. With IRROPs, Emerald/Sapphire in a booking can be very handy.

One thing I do after everything else is complete is to telephone IndiAA armed with the Sabre PNR and verify by asking for your FF number to be read back to you - don't tell them what it is.
