Guys & Gals

Some help please. In Sept / Oct I'm going to be doing the above, luckily enough in business class. I've pretty much figured it all out with my agent, however I'm wondering how many points & sc's [I'm a QFF] I'd earn for the following direct sectors:

LA - LHR on BA
LHR - IST - on BA
IST - LHR - on BA

Help would be gratefully received.
Cheers
Nick

I think this is:

Code:
Carrier	Origin	Dest	COS	Miles	COS	Status	Total	Status	SCs
BA	LAX	LHR	bus 5,448 1,362 1,362 8,172 PS	140
BA	LHR	IST	bus 1,563 391 391 2,345 PS	80
BA	IST	LHR	bus 1,563 391 391 2,345 PS	80

BA	LAX	LHR	bus 5,448 1,362 2,724 9,534 SG	140
BA	LHR	IST	bus 1,563 391 782 2,735 SG	80
BA	IST	LHR	bus 1,563 391 782 2,735 SG	80

BA	LAX	LHR	bus 5,448 1,362 5,448 12,258	WP	140
BA	LHR	IST	bus 1,563 391 1,563 3,517 WP	80
BA	IST	LHR	bus 1,563 391 1,563 3,517 WP	80

Wasn't sure of your status.

May I ask how that wonderful table was generated?

I have a spreadhseet!!!!

Basically it has a lot more columns than shown there. It takes the origin/destination in two columns, concatenates them into a single 6 letter reference, does a lookup in a table of potential destinations (taken from mileage monkey by putting in possible OW destinations from point X and then reversing for the return journey - most major hubs covered for Europe, NAM, ANZ and Asia - I dont fly to Africa so they would only be picked up from a another destination flying there), looks up the fare basis and class of service and calculates based on your status and the program posting to the qpoints, SCs and mileage earned.

I use it to forecast status etc and if i need to put in points from Amex. I just havent been able to get it to deal with the change of status on anniversary dates if you havent requalified.

I am using it to decide whether to go with AA only long term or flick enough to QF for SG/WP.

On the next trip (Sep) I will fix up the status tables so it should be automated and rolling year on year.

I have also put in a neat feature to forecast what you could do with the points on the two programs - to compare (havent automated fuel surcharges and taxes though ;))

EDIT

SO to actually answer the question rather than showing about fancy spreadsheets... I put in the detsinations, selected d/bus fares and flexed the status across the three levels (forced).

Where do you find the time to create a spreadsheet SIR?

And may I have a copy of the spreadsheet please?? :D

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think a lot of FFers have their own spreadsheets. A lot of the work has been done on the train in the mornings and in airport lounges (mostly HKG).

I want to do some tweaking before I release to the public - but I will be uploading it :)

Champion!

If I see you in a QP I'll shout you a beer :p

Not a problem. The main driver for the spreadsheet is for people to how much better off they will be under AA (most of my nonAFF friends who fly a lot are in paid J on business so AA is streets ahead).

I have gained a lot from this site so anything I can give back I am happy to :)

Well we have had a breakthrough! The spreadsheet is now able to flex your AA status based on status changes during the year and on the status change date of 1 March - only thing is that you cant travel on 31/12 1/1 28/2 and 1/3 :)

Next stage to flex QF status based non standard anniversary dates

Should be done next week in fact as a result of some quality time on the train.

All that is left to do is:

- QF rolling status
- Linking forecasts of potential trips to the current points balance (so it can tell how many domestic trips you could do in J between the two programs as an example)
- Validating fare earning tables
- Factoring in converting stickers to 500 miles under AA
- Factoring in loyalty bonuses on QF
- Creating destination pairs for African/S AM locations
- Creating FALSE statements for lookups where I havent got the destination pair working

Not long now!

Hmm - you had to remind people of that :p

It hant moved much - my trip through China has been a little more unstable than originally planned (dates back from PVG changed three times and I was only there for 4 days...)

I will aim to have it finished either on my trip to NRT or on my 15 hour monster to DFW.
