Hi All,

A quick question for those more in the know than myself. I have 400,000 QFF but my wife is expecting and we wont be traveling much in the next few years.

Knowing this - is it worth exchanging these points for gift cards (WOW etc). Is there value in this?

Cheers

There is value in gift cards but its poor value, keeping the points current is easy with woolworths, and being able to travel J with the family when the new addition is probably the best use of points by comparison. I would look at using those points for a nice trip 6-9 months after junior arrives to recharge the batteries.

Gift cards are the lowest value return. You can work out the direct value per point (voucher value/number of points). IIRC this is around 0.8 cents per point. So premium international flights might get up to around 4-6 cents per point. But if it suits your circumstances and is going to save you money with the new baby then the level of return doesn't really matter. As long as your happy.

If you do decide to save the points make sure you keep the account active and don't let them expire after 18 months.

Edit I agree with markis10's advice. Just keep the account/points active.

Thanks everyone. We have a HSBC Premier card and AMEX so will have 4000 points ticking into it every month. Just watch them add up until we travel again I guess.

My only addition is that FF points are like cash, they depreciate with inflation.

Agree the vouchers are poor value though.
