My advice to you :-
I came into the FF game a few years ago, and used OW and *A, because that would cover most of the airlines. I saw that both were competing against each other, so there was no chance of earning points on an airline that was in both alliances (obviously).
So, I thought "Why not just pile the points into ONE FF program ?", and so I stuck with QF, particularly since Ansett's collapse and the "I lost 1 million points" horror stories.
QF inflight has got a damn sight better to SE Asia since they introduced the 'tv in the back of every seat' ; I know, because I've flown from HKK-MEL sometimes and the flight has been absolutely awful (to be nice about it), with everyone staring at one tiny screen 15 metres ahead of them. This also means you have to watch what you get (I'm talking economy on both parts), you can't go and change channels.
The recent flight I had to LAX from MEL was better than some I've had on QF. The games are OK, but the fact that you can sit there and change the channels, and watch what you want is a damn sight better than the old system.
