QF points do not expire as long as there is an activity for the past three years (if there is no activity the account is cancelled). Do you know of any other airlines which have no expiry policy? Points on the other airlines seem to expire after three to 5 years after they were earned.

Unless the rules have changed again the United Airlines Mileage Plus scheme now has points that don't expire.

:D :)

Thanks Bill. Yes, I checked United's website and it is similar to QF's rule - points expire if the last account activity is more than three years.

With all due respect though, will this do us any good ?

UA took it really badly after 9-11 and are in a bad way. Going to close ?

Good point. But they seem to be surviving for a while now.

The reason behind my original question is: my official travel is with QF. But when my family flies to South Asia, we tend to fly SQ - my son loves SQ for the Nintendo and movies. But we do that only once a year and I run the risk of losing SQ points as they expire (in three years) before I can get a decent reward flight. So I though if there is a Star alliance program with no expiry that would help.

But as you say, United may not be the answer to my problem!!!
Thanks

My advice to you :-

I came into the FF game a few years ago, and used OW and *A, because that would cover most of the airlines. I saw that both were competing against each other, so there was no chance of earning points on an airline that was in both alliances (obviously).

So, I thought "Why not just pile the points into ONE FF program ?", and so I stuck with QF, particularly since Ansett's collapse and the "I lost 1 million points" horror stories.

QF inflight has got a damn sight better to SE Asia since they introduced the 'tv in the back of every seat' ; I know, because I've flown from HKK-MEL sometimes and the flight has been absolutely awful (to be nice about it), with everyone staring at one tiny screen 15 metres ahead of them. This also means you have to watch what you get (I'm talking economy on both parts), you can't go and change channels.

The recent flight I had to LAX from MEL was better than some I've had on QF. The games are OK, but the fact that you can sit there and change the channels, and watch what you want is a damn sight better than the old system.
