Hi all

Just about to start a new house build , has anyone gone down the path of obtaining points on a new build ? Are there any promos using Sniip or pay.com.au or similar

I looked at it but Sniip treated the builder as a B2B Payment so wanted 2.19% for Amex. I couldn’t stomach that.

No idea on the big picture but discovering you can get 5 QF/$ at Bunnings via giftcards on QF marketplace (3 bonus + 2 for QF spend with the right card) on top of the 2.5 VA/$ via Flybuys with a Onepass has been helpful for my points accumulation.

I have done this a couple of times.
You must convince the builder to accept Amex directly from you.
Even if builder does not have this facility, they should organise it just for you as you are paying them huge sums often with large margins. You will need to pay the Amex fee incurred by builder but this should only be circa 1.4%.

Thanks for this , i did get the deposit paid via amex and fee free , not sure if they will go the whole build though , cheers

My builder accepted visa or mastercard with no fee. Each time, had a transfer ready to click submit to overpay the card, called the builder to ask if all ok, they said yes, i hit confirm, then supplied card number and they deducted it immediately. Had a nice holiday or two out of it!
