Just finished a trip to Europe in a mixture of J and F, i booked it through AA advantage and flew British Airways,

having checked my account they have credited me with nearly 30k in points for the travel taken ,even though it was all award bookings,
is this a mistake or has it happened to anybody else, at first glance it looks a great deal, earn points on award tickets, they are almost paying for some of your journey.

Sounds unusual but obviously don't query this with AA. I did have some luck with some MH reward bookings (to BA) a few years ago

Definitely don’t query it.
I had something similar but on UA First class award.
Short story, LH strike cancelled my flight KBP-FRA to connect to United F to LAS.
I cracked the coughs big time as they wanted to put me in Y on OS/BA KBP-VIE-LHR-LAS.
Eventually the ground manager for Austrian came down and asked me how he can help, I said put me in F, a few minutes on the phone and voila I had myself revenue J seats KBP-VIE-LHR and revenue F seat LHR-LAS including Concorde lounge access.
As soon as I got to VIE lounge I managed my booking to add my QF number.
Ended up with over 400 sc’s and piles of points. :)

Yes it does happen at times.never, ever query it if it does.

A couple of years ago I had an AA award. BKK-HKG-SYD, where the first leg with CX was cancelled at the last minute.
CX then rebooked me on QF24, BKK-SYD direct, in 'J' for which I received the full135SCs and 14K+ points.
