Qantas Points Club Discussion

Thankyou for the suggestions.

The only useful Booster I have in the Rewards app is 2k bonus ER points for $100 spent at Woolworths, however I've just done a shop at Coles / am done for the week and also weary of the time required for the points to land and be transferred if I do a $100 shop at WW.

Also, I don't really watch sports either, so Kayo isn't of use to me - yep, I'm very "boring" - don't drink or watch sports not available on FTA TV 🤣

I guess the quickest option would be to just top-up 1k points for $56.
Even if you subscribe and don’t watch, the Kayo sub for 1,000 points at $30 is cheaper than buying the points direct. Just need to cancel Kayo as soon as the points hit, which is usually the next day (probably canceling right away is fine, but I’d wait until they’re in)

Woolworths EDR points convert instantly to Qantas IME - once you cross 2k points, 1k points will land in your Qantas account (as will 10SC if you're registered for on the ground SCs). Absent booze, is it time to refill the freezer?

Otherwise, Kayo will work as @Flyerwin and @dairyfloss suggest and will be cheaper than topup points (and will yield 10SC if you registered for the 'on the ground' promo).

Subscribe to the on the ground promo first:

Then sign up to Kayo here:

You get the 1,000 points practically on the same day, status credits 2 days later.
Just cancel the monthly subscription immediately.

It's $30 for 1,000 points and 10 status credits - not bad. Better deal that $56 which is what you were thinking of doing.

If you normally shop at Woolworths, might as well buy some ($350) of Woolworths gift cards from Qantas marketplace and then spend it at your leisure.

On Kayo's website - the below is stated:

1,000 bonus sign up points awarded after free trial ends, 100 points per month subscribed including your 1st month

So, unless there's a 100% concrete guarantee that someone has signed up to Kayo and received the 1k points within <3 days, I'll probably just top-up 1k points for $56.

Waves hand!

In your position, I would be asking myself what benefit I get from PC+ and why I would consider spending money to achieve it. You may also like to temper your expectations in terms of the 10k points...

I didn't think Kayo had a free trial unless something's changed since start of the month.

No one can give a 100% concrete guarantee here - they can only share their own experience.

See below screenshot of mine - signed up to Kayo on 7 November. The 1,100 points landed on same day. The status credits (which you won't get unless you've signed up to the status on the ground offer before end of October) landed 2 days later. So the points actually land on the same day. YMMV.

Thanks for all the responses.

I ended up spending the $56 to top-up 1k points as it was the easiest and quickest way to guarantee points before my membership year lapses.

Had it been 5-10k points required, I probably wouldn't bother.

I hope you get more than $56 value from the increment between PC and PC+.

Couple of lounge passes for any trips in economy as well as earning SCs on CRs, I think the $56 will pay itself off.

This is also to retain PC, not go from PC to PC+.

Certainly less than going for intentional status runs to gain / retain status!
