Hopefully not a dumb question, but I'm kind of curious whether people on this forum have managed to attain Points Club status (either level), and if so how they managed to pull it off? The reason I ask is when I check the dashboard for my PointsClub I am greeted with the following:

I'm not a math genius by any stretch of the imagination but if I were to add up the maximum points that can be earned on the ground (125,000) and in the air (20,000) that works out to **taps keys on calculator** 145,000 miles as the maximum miles you can earn.

However, to reach Points Club standard edition I require:

How does one manage to resolve that 5000 point discrepancy?

Another question, do bonus points awarded at Woolies (that are auto transferred to QF) count towards the points earned on the ground? Has anyone managed to reach the Points Club Professional edition which requires:

If so what are some really good strategies for getting there?

The 125,000 points limit refers to the maximum number of points that can be earned on the ground in one transaction. It's basically to stop people from applying for a credit card with 150,000 bonus sign-up points and then just qualifying without putting in any more effort.

Earn the 150,000 points over multiple transactions and you're in Points Club.

And yes, points transferred from Woolworths/Everyday Rewards do count.

I would suggest having a read of this thread - Qantas Points Club Discussion

We've qualified for Points Club through putting all household expenses through my credit card (MrsK has a supplementary card), with Woolies, BP, Qantas Hotels etc, with some points through flying. So it's doable without Credit Card sign on bonuses.

Has anyone managed to reach the Points Club Professional edition

I am a Points Club Professional (I like this way more than Plus) having ended my last membership year on about 390k points. Reached 350k about 6 months into the year and then switched my earning over to Amex MR.

If so what are some really good strategies for getting there?

You have to be churning cards or putting business spend on uncapped cards to hit 350k - there's really no other way. I tend to get my churning started before the membership year starts, i.e. apply for a couple of cards in April/May, and get within spitting distance of the minimum spend threshold (need to watch spend like a hawk) then tip them over in the first week of July when my new year starts.

Yep i obtained it again this year with no points from flying at all, it was mostly just through a couple of credit card churns plus the additional points earned hitting the min spends

I will hit Points Club membership within the next few weeks. Achieved via taking out the Qantas Premier Platinum credit card and then using it for every cent that we spend other than the home loan repayment. Pay in full each month of course. I've also earned some from flying and a handful from filling up at BP.

This isn't something that I was particularly chasing but I like the idea of earning SC on rewards flights and am interested to see if there are any other useful benefits once it kicks in.

Yes. PC achieved with no churning or anything just usual expenses (OK maybe a case or two of bonus points wine may have helped - but that has a tangible benefit!). Have not really gone out of my way to earn it because I don't care terribly about it tbh. Only a few thousand points from flying due covid (and obviously the 20k max earn means flying is never going to be a big part of it)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have an AMEX that allows me to manually convert points to QFF. While I'd rather send them to other programs like SQ (at least, when borders are open), having that ability to manually top-up QFF is very handy. Quite often, I calculate how many points I expect to earn via my other sources (other QFF credit cards, Woolies and so on) throughout the year, and transfer *just* enough each year to get over the line. I usually make that transfer when QFF has a transfer bonus happening for maximum value - as bonus points earned via those bonuses count towards the Points Club threshold too, so I also factor those bonuses into my transfer calculations.

I only bother with standard Points Club though, as being able to earn status credits on classic reward flights is my main incentive, particularly as those also count towards lifetime tallies, which I'm slowly chipping away at.

I've just requalified for PC for the 2nd year in a row.
I haven't churned since early 2000 so it is possible to achieve without churning (but much easier if you do) !
