Hi everyone, I'm tempted to use some of my stockpiled Amex points to reach Points Club Plus.
Qantas emailed me today with a transfer bonus offer: 15% more up to 299,999 and 25% more over 300,000.

My questions are:

1) Does that bonus count separately to the points transferred? I know there is a 125,000 limit per transfer. So if I transfer 250,000 Amex points, does the 125,000 + 18,750 points count towards Points Club?

2) Is it better value to transfer multiples of 125,000 to reach 350,000 points, or is it better to transfer 300,000 multiples even through 125,000 counts each time, but I get a 25% bonus instead of a 15% bonus?

The T&Cs should be specified in the email, but I think you'd need to transfer at least 300,000 points in one go to get the 25% bonus.

1) - Yes, QF usually adds the bonus to your account a few weeks/months later so it will be a separate transaction
2) - It depends. How likely are you to get Points Club Plus without the extra 175,000 points counting? And if you need separate transactions, will you get all the benefits of Points Club Plus - i.e. Qantas Club, 10% off Qantas Wine etc.

Personally, I'd prefer the 30,000 extra points, I don't think i'd pay 30,000 points to get Points Club Plus. If I needed QP access, then the deal changes a fair bit obviously.

Thanks Muppet

I've just started a new anniversary cycle, so I only have 3000 points so far. I'm mainly after the 10% discount on Qantas wines and the status earnt on reward flights. I usually redeem J if available, but have Emirates gold due to my credit card so I don't think I need QP access. I'm sitting on a pretty large Amex balance which is doing nothing for me, so I thought I'd take advantage of the transfer bonus and earn points club plus at the same time.

I'm currently thinking of transferring 125K and then 300K which will yield me 343,750 if my calculations are correct. 850K Amex to 125K + 300K Qantas earning a bonus of 18,750 + 75,000.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The T&Cs aren’t very helpful:
*This offer is available to the recipient of this email only and should not be shared. To receive bonus Qantas Points, members must register via email between 12.01am (AEDT) 1 March and 11.59pm (AEDT) 31 March 2021 and visit the points transfer page of your credit or charge card provider’s website or call the number on the back of your card and ask to transfer by 31 March 2021. Bonus Qantas Points will be rounded up to the nearest whole Qantas Point. This offer is not applicable to any card products listed at qantas.com/cards or other credit or charge products where the Card Partner automatically transfers your credit or charge card reward points to Qantas Points on your behalf on a monthly basis. Please allow up to 15 days after the offer has closed for the bonus Qantas Points to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account with the description ‘Card Transfer Bonus’. This advertised offer is not applicable or valid in conjunction with any other advertised or promotional offer.

I took your advice on the extra 30K points muppet, and have transferred 2 x 600K Amex points to get 750K Qantas Points and points club plus membership for nearly 2 years.

I saw on pointshacks that the 25% bonus offer is usually on transfers of 500k and over, so the current promotion is quite generous if points club plus is of interest to anyone. the 25% bonus is handy as it is a nice buffer against future devaluations, and singapore recently only offered a 15% bonus.

<snip>.... I'm mainly after the 10% discount on Qantas wines and the status earnt on reward flights. </snip?

I know you've already done it, but just for others - both the regular Points Club and Points Club Plus offer status credits on reward flights.

However Plus has an additional status credit benefit of the rollover of 100 status credits to the next year.

I think the benefits of plus are worth it if you have the points to transfer.
